Soap is still performing well for me, but I much prefer the creamy thick lather that I get from the likes of Stirling or APR.
the D plate with a new Polsilver blade was so perfect. Absolutely effortless shave and I see why so many rate Polsilver blades very highly!!

Home Mash Menthol Splash
So I came across the basic recipe on the net sometime ago and over subsequent batches have tweeked it to suit my personal taste.
The base concoction contains alcohol, witch hazel and glycerine.
Added to this is eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, powdered alum, and finely ground menthol crystals (small pinches at a time!). You can omit the menthol crystals and up the peppermint oil slightly if you prefer a more refreshing splash without so much of the cold eye watering hit.
I use a clip jar to mix a batch (about a cup and a half of liquid in total). Shake well and leave for 24hours before assessing and making subsequent tweeks (if required). When happy decant and shake well before use. Of course, best to test small amount before lashing it on!

Post-shave:- T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent mixed into the 240ml bottle with Natural Glycerin (20), Tea Tree Antiseptic (10), Lavender (15) & Peppermint (10 drops)
Fragrance:- Proraso Wood & Spice

It was all about the Slant today. When I first got this razor it bit me a few times and thought there was something wrong with the design. Back out of storage and years on my technique has improved to appreciate a very efficient and fun razor.
BBS nearly in one pass but still required a few touch ups. You'll need a very light hand and slick hydrated soap. Rush and the colour of your lather will match the razor. Have a love hate with PAA razors but this one is very much a keeper.
