I know you’re not a huge fan of a floppy boar brush when searching for a high loft, if I’m not mistaken when you’re face lathering???? When you’re searching for a BIG boar ;)

I’m mean seriously be careful with the BIG boar

Bowl/Scuttle:- Captain's Choice
Brush:- Yaqi Moka Express Synth. 24/53mm knot
Soap/Cream:- Ariana & Evans ~ Summer Fig
Razor/Blade:- EJ 3one6 / German Wilkinson Sword #3
Post/After-shave:- T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent mixed into the 240ml bottle with Natural Glycerin (20), Tea Tree Antiseptic (10), Lavender (15) & Peppermint (10 drops)
Fragrance:- Tommy Hilfiger for Men
 
Anew rock for the rock garden arrived today --

Superb Jnat finished edge. This hone arrived at about 4 pm today from Japan and after lapping and prepping the surface I honed a straight for tonight. Wow. Top shave. I think once I get to know and understand this hone and it's particular idiosyncrasies I will get even better results. - Possibly !

While I was lapping and honing this blade I made a new soap and it performed really well for tonight's shave.

Same setup from yesterday but went with a feather blade. It’s rare I’ll use these blades as they generally cut me up and call for several dabs of styptic. Not so today, only one spot was cut but it’s an area that I often get with the razor below my lip and has been aggravated a bit lately. I’m considering seeing a quack and getting the little bump removed.

A new blade in the general and an excellent smooth shave this morning with an effortless bbs result.if only it was like this every day.
 
Pre: Hot Shower

Brush: Yaqi Synth Pony 26mm
Soap: A&E Grecian Horse
Post: A&E Grecian Horse Splash

This brush has moved up to #1 favourite. It has an amazing feel, super soft with plenty of backbone, splays well and creates an abundance of lather, the 26mm is certainly a nice step up from the 24mm knot. It has the biggest handle of any brush I have and I thought this might have been a problem but it feels great in the hand and I found I like bigger handles.

JAWS + Feather combo resulted in a very smooth and close shave.

Brush: The Stray Whisker Silvertip Badger
Soap: Barrister and Mann Seville
Razor: Muhle R41 🧨
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium (3)
Post: Proraso Post Shave Stone, Barrister and Mann Seville

Bit rougher than yesterday so I think my hypothesis is valid - R41 can be effective in the right circumstances, but it isn’t a daily driver. To use a motoring analogy, it’s the equivalent of an old school American muscle car. Plenty of horsepower but not a lot of refinement, and needs to be handled with respect.

Try the Astra SP blade takes a little bit of edge feel off on the R41, some wet shavers can used the R41 as a everyday daily driver if you used a mild blade on a R41. Give it ago Cowboy

That’s a good point. I haven’t used an Astra in years because of the lack of efficiency, but perhaps that might be a good thing with the R41. I haven’t got any Astras stashed away, so might need to use something rubbish like Voshkod

Post/After-shave: T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent mixed into the 240ml bottle with Natural Glycerin (20), Tea Tree Antiseptic (10), Lavender (15) & Peppermint (10 drops)
Fragrance:- Tommy Hilfiger for Men

Head: Headblade Moto
Face: Karve Brass SB (D plate)
Blade: Astra Blue (4)
Pre: Shower + Nivea Face Wash
Soap: Squadron Soap Sweet Heart
Post: Jovan splash // Vaseline Replenishing Mouisteriser

Another fantastic SOTD. Hard to top yesterdy but the D plate delivered a super smooth, comfortable BBS in 3 easy passes. As much as I love the Red Lead Old Spicy scent, I'm a real sucker for musk and todays combo packs a double musk punch :love: Happy shaves!
