Swapped the blade as I'm finding the Platinum doesn't shave as close which is a shame as they're smooth. Love me some menthol. :)

Same as yesterday,
34c.Gillette yellow...2,Thayers.
This time the Gillette did not suck but gave a very good result
I was perhaps too quick to dispose of the Gillette in the past,I think the first shave for me on this blade may never be great.
Buy again? Perhaps, but life is too short for sub par shaves

Happy birthday for yesterday. That copper horse hair brush looks good.
The brush is great, I will not be getting anymore badger brushes unless they are vintage. Good backbone, a little scrubby - perfect. After about 7 uses and the horse smell is starting to fade. Not much different to the funk of badger brushes. I'm tempted to get an extra soft just to see what the difference is between the two.

Razor: Fine Marvel
Blade: Wizamet SI (5)
Soap: A&E Kaizen
Brush: Kent 24mm pure badger
Post: Alum + Lucky Tiger Tonic
Fragrance: Trufitt & Hill Apsley

First shave today with the Wizamet in a razor other than the 6S. Slightly rougher shave than I like, but can’t argue with the closeness of the final result. Rubbing my face 12 hours later feels like about a 1pm level of micro stubble I’d have with 6S/6.

Biggest problem with the Rockwell is the relative impossibility of nicking myself, however much I rush the shave or sloppy my technique. Makes me too cavalier when using a more efficient/less forgiving razor like the Fine Marvel.

Looking forward to tomorrow’s shave #6 on the Wizamet. Back to the old workhorse 6S 😀

You could always buy back all "moved on" razors and try again with Yellows? Boundless possibilities :)
Yep, I could, but I won't. Most of the razors I've "moved on" (including the 34C) I've simply given away because I've moved on. Would you go back to a supermarket Rapira after having enjoyed your Wolfperson WR2 or Charcoal Goods L2G1? However, over the next year I do plan to try a few different blades (Voskhod, Bic and Shark have been calling to me for a while) and revisit some old enemies from my youth...

Full marks for persistence :) I rarely carry on with a blade that's disappointed once. Maybe the Yellow might respond well to corking or hand stropping the first time out...

Pre: Hot water
Razor: R95 Rocca
Blade: Polsilver (3)
Brush: Forgotten Art "Southern Skies" 30mm Snow Leopard
Soap: B&M Barrister's Reserve Lavender
Post: Shower

A tug-free third day with any blade is unusual for me, but the Polsilver delivered in spades. (Maybe because I haven't been pushing that hard for my usual super-BBS this week.) Now I'm interested enough to see how it goes tomorrow. Pity I can't say the same about the soap, which I have lathered up only a few times since I've had it, and it's never failed to disappoint. B&M bases are stupendous, but their scents always seem a bit artificial to me. Come the New Year, when I have more time for post offices and such, I think I'll put it up for a PIF and see if it can find a warmer welcome.

Edit: at least I got a better picture of that brush than usual. I never knew it would be so hard to get a decent picture of a shaving brush...

Razor: Muhle Rocca R96
Blade: Voskhod
Brush: Yaqi Aqua 24mm HM Badger
Soap: Oleo Soapworks - Bonaire
Post: Nivea Sensitive aftershave balm

Open lid shot to show off that ugly pour from a fresh puck. Surprising (from the label colour) to discover that the soap is BLUE! It's supposed to be a dupe of Creed Virgin Island Water, but since I'm not familiar with that scent, I describe it as "beach change room" because it smells like a mix of coconut suntan lotion and urinal cake. It's not unpleasant and really does remind me of the 'beach'. I really need to visit David Jones and smell a sample of Creed VIW and compare.

Swapping between the two Slims across the shave - definitely a different feel to each.
