One of the things I love about this passion of ours is the international flavour of it. I can open my bathroom cabinet and use hardware and software from all over the world.

I thought it would be interesting to compile a list of countries and the quality shaving equipment they are known for (i.e no Merkur blades). I'm sure there's lots that I've never heard of. Each post could be a different country.

I'll kick off with:

Germany-Flag.gif

Safety Razors: Merkur, Muhle, I'm sure there are others that I've missed.
Straights: Dovo Solingen, Boker
Blades: Bic?
Brushes: Muhle (fantastic Synthetic Silvertip Fibre), Shavemac, any others?
Soaps and Creams: Tabac, Klar, Meissner Tremonia, Hasslinger, Speick, Tabula Rasa
Post: Speick, (I would put Alt-Innsbruck but I believe the Anschluss is over;))
There must be many more items that I missed.

Thater manufacture brushes I do believe is a glaring omission.
Soaps also had Sir Irisch Moos, which as made by Muelhens before P&G got their grubby hands on them.
Mäurer & Wirtz purchased 4711, Sir Irisch Moos, Tosca and Extase, all ex Muelhens brands from P&G in 2006.
They're the same house that produces Tabac.
Straights also has Dorko as well I believe.

Dorco is Korean :) (Are you Donald Trump's foreign policy advisor? :D)

Dovo is the brand you're thinking of - a sister of Merkur if I recall correctly...

You may want to read my post again.

Anyone want to post another country? Japan? U.K.? USA? France?

Now I'm utterly confused?

Great idea for a thread @Psmith - so where too next?
