I just thought I'd post a quickie about the amazing treatment I've received form Bernd at Shavemac.
I purchased an Americana D01 3 Band (24/50 bulb) from them a few months ago. On receipt I tried it and, whilst loving the handle, was surprised at the level of scrub and scritch. I knew that D01 2 band had scritch but was surprised that this knot did too. I came to the conclusion that it was due to the overstuffed knot being set at 50, and maybe me not liking bulb shapes with backbone.
I thought I'd get in touch with Bernd at Shavemac to ask him his thoughts. He replied quickly and said that D01 3 band shouldn't be scritchy and I should send him a pic of the brush. When I did he quickly replied that it was their mistake and he'd sent me D01 2 band. He offered to reknot the brush or give me a big discount on another brush.
I was really surprised, as it absolutely looks like a 3 band. Still, I figured he knows his own knots.
Today he emailed me saying that he checked a few more pics of the brush that I sent him and he's certain that it's a D01 2 Band. I replied that actually, I'm now really loving the brush. His reply was that because it is 2 band with such a thin dark band I could never resell it as either D01 3 Band or 2 Band and so he offered me a full refund if I wanted to return the brush.
I've been using this brush almost daily to break it in, so it is well used. Maybe 30/40 lathers. I've really grown to love this brush and it is such a point of difference to my Thater, Shavemac 2 Band and Paladin. So scrubby and now with soft(ish)tips. No way am I sending this back.
Which is a long winded way of saying that it's a keeper and I've another on the way. Bernd was just amazing in being proactive to ensure that I was thrilled with my Shavemac brush.
Still can't believe it's 2 band though.
