SOTD THURSDAY, MAY 14, 2020

This morning I decided to shave with my Schick “Paul Revere” Injector produced in the mid 1970s as a collaboration between International Silver Co. and Schick. It is a Type L Injector and was an homage to the Revolutionary War Silversmith and featured a ‘cutlery’ inspired oversized handle.

Since I have large hands, the razor feels great, and delivers a first rate shave typical of the L Type Injectors. For my software I selected PannaCrema Nuavia Blu, Fine Accoutrements Platinum AS Splash and A&E Post-Shave Serum. I decided to lay off the menthol for this shave after my Cryogen experience yesterday. The Alpha Shaving T-400 Tribute was my brush of choice for which I selected the 26mm Two Band Badger ferrule.

After my shower and cold water rinse I went to work on the PannaCrema which smells so good! Being a nasal barbarian, that’s about as far as I get with scent descriptions. It’s a very rich, luxurious soap with great post shave skin feel. The “Paul Revere” Injector, while not as efficient as some of my other razors, reduced my whiskers in three successive bloodless passes (WTG, ATG, ATG) to just shy of the BBS level. The razor felt great in hand and left me feeling clean, smooth and refreshed!

RAZOR: “Paul Revere” International Silver Type L Schick Injector.
BLADE: Schick B-20 Proline Injector
PREP: Cold water rinse
BRUSH: Alpha Shaving T-400 Tribute w/ 26mm Two Band Badger Ferrule
SOAP: PannaCrema Nuavia Blu
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Thayers Lavender WH and Fine Accoutrements Platinum AS Splash. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum.

Post: APR Escentials Restoration Serum // Stirling Soap Co. Unscented balm

An enjoyable head/face SOTD today with some neglected gear. The Headblade shaves like a cart so no fuss and the Yaqi DOC is efficient and smooth when paired with this blade. Almost finished the soap sample from @Kaeckerut but likely I still have a tub and Serbian soap (which smells the same) in reserve :) Finished off with some Serum and balm... Happy shaves!

Pre: Hot shower and hot towel
Bowl: wood turned
Brush: Omega boar hair
Soap: A&E St Barts
Razor: Muhle R41
Blade: Derby (2)
Post: Alum & St Barts A/S
Music: Pink Floyd - Pulse

Tonight was the third shave with this razor and I am finding that I am getting better with it each time. 3 pass shave WTG XTG ATG and a touch up pass and I am so BBS i might slide of the pillow. Loving the new St Barts with its hint of lime and coconut with rum. Am Also loving the night time shave and with it comes such close shaves I am looking the same (5 o’clock shadow wise) by the same time anyways, it is just more enjoyable and less rushed. Happy days😀

I have a love/hate relationship with the HetV Cognac and Cuban Cigars. It is not a complex scent, and it is certainly not as polarising as the Mycroft, but somedays I'm in the mood for it, others less so. Today I'm in the mood - we will see if that lasts all week!

Pre: Hot Shower
Brush: Yaqi 30mm Tuxedo Knot Synthetic
Soap: Squadron Soap Group Captain's Blend
Razor: Rockwell 6C Gunmetal (R4)
Blade: Astra Superior (3)
Post: Alum and moisturiser

Third shave with the blade and it definitely felt like it on two-day old stubble. I’m thinking I’ll change to some feathers that I have sitting around. Brush is awesome now that I’ve worked it out - lather was lush and meringue like with peaks and sheen. I’m loving being back on with wet shaving. 👌🏻

Last shave of the mine site assignment. And probably the best traveling shave I have experienced. Everything came together beautifully, resulting in a very comfortable three pass shave for a DFS+ result.
Homeward bound, at least for a short while.
