Nice little collection there I can endorse those coffee mills, they are excellent. I have an identical one that I use as a pepper mill. They never, ever wear out unlike most other mills.

Love me some home brew ''domacha'' rakiya and the coffee seems to be better when using freshly grinded beans as opposed to the instant stuff.All depends how much home brew RAKIA, RAKI, GRAPA one has had after the (name Balkan country) coffee. My mum makes a decent coffee using a chezve but I prefer my dad’s rakia.

Never thought of adding spirit to cafe, how do u make it? Add a shot to the mix after its brewed? Or before?
Hey, @StratMan, you've started off a nice digression on this thread already filled with cool things, well done. I had thought I might be something of an outlier in my occasional forays into coffees (καφεσ) done the "old way", it's really gratifying to see how many of us go in for it in a world under the dominion of espresso.
I actually go in for my coffee hit in lots of ways, espresso, Greek, siphon, sometimes French press and even hobo style. There are no rules. Oops, there is one: International Roast is NOT coffee. And I still like the glass of water on the side (helps wash down the gritty bits )
Incidentally, our previous posters missed an important Balkan beverage, slivovitz ("sliva"). Living in Perth for 24 years brought me friends from Macedonia and some of what I'll call the former Yugoslavian countries (where the briki is known as a jezve). My Macedonian next-door neighbour made the most sublime sliva on this planet, and I still have half of a treasured bottle that I keep in remembrance of him.

Recently shelved the Nespresso pod machine. It was quick and convenient, and sort of made a sort of coffee.
Bought one of these jobbies. Lets me steam the milk myself, and I can set the parameters for 6 different coffees, plus 10 different grind settings.
So far I'm liking it...but am modifying the steam wand into a more professional one. Not hard to do and cheap as too.
Winter will be here soon so coffee and a wee splash of my Rum will be the go!
