Pre: Pb Pre Shave Emulsion
Soap: Barrister Reserve Spice
Brush: Omega Boar Italian
Razor: Colonial General
Blade: Feather Pro Super (2)
Post: Jojoba Oil
AS: Barrister Reserve Spice (sample)
Nice combo this morning. Enjoyed the Reserve Spice lather though it was slightly drying.

I recently grabbed a pack of Feather blades from ShaverShop (*gasp*) because I had run out.

While I enjoy a Nacet blade in the AS-D2, I wanted to try a Feather blade since that is the way it is "supposed to be enjoyed".
Well, this morning I took it for a spin, and wow... I usually don't enjoy Feather blades as I find them quite rough. But in an AS-D2 I get very little blade feel or scratching.
I got a lovely close shave without ever feeling at risk. Quite impressive!

If you ever get a chance to try this combo, I highly recommend it!

Note to self: Stop being so lazy and take some damn pictures!

I agree with your experience.
I had the AS-D1 years ago and with the feather blade, it was never bitey or rough but the feather blade just doesn't agree with my skin no matter what.

It's also buttery smooth in the Rockwell on R1/R2. On R3, it became bitey.

Pre Shave: Shower, Wash face with L'OREAL skin awakening face wash, face guard oil
Brush: Razorock Monster
Soap: PAA CaD
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89
Blade: Wilkinson Sword classic (3)
Post Shave: Alum, Nivea 2 phase AS lotion, L'OREALmoisturiser

Another 2 1/2 pass DFS

If you like the shaver shop face guard oil, you should try Somersets. It's the most awesome shaving oil I've ever used!

I use it because I have it, bought it couple years back because it was going to make cartridge shaving better, unfortunately it only made it worse. On the flip side it seems to work well as a pre shave (for me) for DE shaving, and I will defiantly try somersets.

I have never gotten on well with the Feather blades. Always little weepers afterwards. Maybe I’ll try in the Rockwell with plate 1 or 2.

@nav1 do you rate using a shave oil before lathering? I’ve never used other than the Proraso pre cream but didn’t think it made much difference. I face lather also so wouldn’t the oil just incorporate into the soap?

I have used the proraso pre cream and it did nothing for me.

Using 3 drops of oil prior to my shower means it has time to absorb and soften the stubble.

Surprisingly, I can feel the oily layer on my skin even after 3rd pass (I face lather also) which means it doesn't all get incorporated into the lather.

For me, I can feel the difference during the shave and in the final result so I definitely wouldn't be without pre shave oil.

This is regardless of which soap I use or how thick or thin I create the lather.

I found Somersets to be the best but now I make my own with grape seed, Abyssinian and jojoba oils plus lemon Myrtle EO for scent (I adore lemon Myrtle!).

Interesting... I too found the Feather blades bitey in my 6c#3.
I could never find the right angle on plate #1 or #2, so I gave up on them. But, that was a long time ago.
I will give plate #2 another try soon. (y)

I basically ride the cap with the R1/2 plates. Works great!

I've been using this stuff at the end of my shower as both a cleanser and (notionally) a pre-shave.
It seems to help a bit.

Seems like a nice blend but how oil could generate a "gentle lather" makes me a bit suspicious.

For me, it cleans my face without drying while softening and plumping the hairs.
Result: Profit! Better shaves! :)

Very true, cleansing and softening in one.
As long as there are no surfactants, it'd be a nice product.

For cleansing/face wash, I use Nutribiotic soap free skin cleanser with GSE (grapefruit seed extract), from iherb.
