Yes there is, but it’s minimal and it’s on one side only.

I had my first shave with this razor this afternoon. Blade used was a Gillette 7 o’clock yellow and shaving cream was truefitt and hill ultimate comfort. The shave was effortless, efficient, smooth and most importantly irritation free. I would put this razor on par with some of my favourite razors like H&S N075, RS-10, Masamune, Lupo DLC, and others. I have paid more for a razor and have been quite disappointed (looking at you Karve), but this razor has lived up to the hype and is a keeper.

This razor is more of a value product rather than a high end one. It’s only $225 US and you get two base plates in one. It’s important that the razor blade edges are even and symmetrical and they are. Now, if the shave was not up to scratch then I would have contacted the vendor. The shave was great so I am keeping it.

I respect your view on keeping it.
I thought they were around $400. $225 is good value for that stylish razor.
On the Karve scale how would rate the efficiency?

It felt like Plate C SB but smoother and I only have plates B,C and D. I haven’t tried the aggressive side yet. Errol has this razor as well and he may have a different take regarding the Karve scale.

Don't hesitate to contact them if you have any issues as I can vouche that they stand by their product and will work with you to resolve any issues. Great to see yet another member to the Smart Helix family and here's to many Happy Shaves!

From my discussions with them they advised that the head (top cap+ flippable plate) come as a set so if any issues they'd happily replace them both hassle free and most probably let you keep the faulty one as they did with my damaged one...?

Agree that since the blade aligns and tab is very minimal it shouldn't affect the quality of shave one bit as both sides offer a close, smooth shave that's efficient mild or aggressive side, making it a great Daily Shaver! Looking forward to your thoughts as you test it with different blades ;)

The blade tab misalignment is minuscule (probably less than one millimetre) and the shave is not affected at all. Besides, they are a small business trying to make a go of it and I am not going to quibble with them over a slight cosmetic glitch. It’s good to know though that they stand by their product and make their customers happy.
