After consulting the Guru AKA @Gargravarr have decided to give the Hawk OC a rest because it is probably too efficient for daily shave and have used it for the past 3 weeks trialing AC blades so skin may be hyper-sensitive.
I really enjoyed the absolute BBS produced by Hawk v3 OC but not if it detracts from daily enjoyment.
First impression of Vector was (it's different) like shaving with a tooth pick, sweet spot is not as intuitive as I expected but shaved very well and delivered DFS on 1st attempt with absolutely no irritation and minimal regrowth before midday. Hopefully I will be able to dial it in and find the sweet spot every pass. I don't think it will be a DE killer but definitely kept in rotation.

Hawk is winging it's way to @StratMan because he has that rugged Mediterranean beard that can handle a more aggressive razor.

Rocca R94
BIC
Olympiakos 2-band badger troycraft
B&M Seville
CaD Splash

3 days growth and a new BIC from the new delivery for some quality control. was a perfect day for the JAWS to make an appearance but the pull of giving the Rocca a run against that growth was too strong, and what a superb shave.. such a smooth and sharp shave shave had to go an extra ATG, so 4 passes and BBS is no problem. The cooling menthol hit of the CaD was very welcoming. This brush is such an lather monster, not in eating your soap but in giving back and so comfortable (y)

Remember @StratMan, super duper light touch, this razor will test your skills.

Not all blades are created equal!!
Some blades especially those with multiple and different types of coatings on them tend to fair poorer in the durability side of things, if you give them too much of a wipe which also reduces the smoothness. There are also some coated blades that will last and do have durability and smoothness when wiping the blade.

All of the Stainless Blades that I have tried, that are nominated as uncoated or minimal coating tend to last longer if you do give them a wipe, without comprising smoothness and durability within a normal use pattern. You will be surprised at the gunk that can be deposited on the blade especially if left in the razor that is only rinsed.

my razors, blades and all get reassembled every day, cleaned and dried after every use. but may well be killing the edge, will only pat dry from here on in and see

this may one day become a reality, but would def be SS.. soon as I get my LP custom i'll reset my sights :)
I think @rhodes96 is referring to Hawk OC.

With DE razors I loosen the head and rest horizontally on razor stand to drain and dry, never remove the blade unless it develops a burr and need to palm strop

Brush: DS Cosmetics Bikki 26/60mm badger/boar P&C Charity Auction 2021
Razor: Blackland Vector Ti
Blade: Chinese No Names (3) - thanks @Gargravarr
Pre: Shower
Bowl: Pereira Unbreakable Lather Bowl
Soap: A&E Asian Plum
Post: Milkman HQ Spring Rider A/S Serum // Sukin Hydration Biomarine Facial Serum
WTG, ATG, Touchups = DFS+

Very mixed views on the No Name blades as this mornings shave felt smoother but still quite harsh against my sandpaper like regrowth. Not as comfortable as the Prolines but still efficient and a good valued alternative to the more expensive AC blades.

The brush knot still feels scratchy on the face but manages to work well and todays soap produced plenty of luscious lather buy boy do I dislike like this scent as way too chemically and ladies perfume smell... (n)

Pre-shave: Hot shower, Proraso Green
Brush: Yaqi 28mm synthetic
Razor: Yaqi Mellon
Blade: Gillette Minora Stainless (1)
Post-shave: Alum block, @SpeedyPC concoction.

I've been very busy slack recently and this shave was a while ago. @neongas very generously PIF'd a Yaqi Mellon to me and I'm putting together a trial pack for a mate so this was my first shave with the Mellon so I know what it shaves like before I pass it on. I went with a Minora as I've had great results with them, and it's a blade I know well.

I'm now starting to get the hang of the Yaqi brush - 28mm is big and it's a different beast, but I'm finding it good to use now.

Overall it was a good shave and the only issue I had was a little roughness due to operator error. I'll now be able to confidently include the Mellon in the trial pack that I put together.

Thanks @Holiday really appreciate the offer and looking forward to giving a single edge a run. Love my BBS so this may be a great fit for me.

The sweet spot is unusually wide with the Vector, you can shave at almost any angle and it'll work. When I think about it, I try to keep the blade at about 45º to skin - but I rarely think about it. The Hawk has pretty much only one angle where it'll work at all, but boy does it work well. I've neglected mine for weeks (months?) so coming back to it this week gave me a nice surprise. Almost certainly the best value AC razor there is.

One day is about enough of the No-Names for me. By the time I've finished my face and noggin, the blade is ready for the bin. It's made me re-think their value: they're cheap to buy, but don't last, so they probably don't represent the value for money I once thought. At least they don't come in those non-recyclable injectors.

Agreed re the Asian Plum - mine didn't even make it into my den before I moved it on. No lady would like that, it's a scent for a 14yo weeny-bopper at best. I do like the label, though.

Thanks mate light touch it is (y) What sort of angle do you approach SE shaving with? You can safely assume I will be going for those ATG passes, anything I need to take into consideration for ATG?

Steep to 30 degrees, as @Gargravarr mentioned above there is really only one angle it shave at regardless which way you shave. Very efficient razor the OC is. Lighter touch than normal or your skin will feel punished. Maybe a good preshave routine before your first use. I remember the first time I used the OC Hawk and I was raw for a day or so. Again that was due to my technique and unfamiliarity with the razor.

Hard to disagree with you regarding the price as buying in bulk would end up good value but don't see myself going that way as they currently sit between Proline-Kai Pink and I get better results if I just use those instead and I'm noticing the regrowth isn't as even but appreciate the sample as I now know what to expect. (y)

I find A&E products get hyped up and don't get me wrong the soap base/s are fantastic but what puts me off is the scents as the majority are way too chemically with the only ones that I enjoyed being a few of the Club Members exclusives that @rhodes96 sent as samples. Frankly I get just as good a lather using lesser priced soaps but Peter must be doing something right as he gets plenty of praise from wet shavers!? I also find women get turned off by his scents as the few the misses has sampled were big NO NOs!!!

I find the natural angle of the head gives the best shave when using the Vector as that way I get the right amount of blade feel and a close/smooth shave. I'm inclined to try a Hawk V3 myself as a cheaper option to the similar styled AC razors (especially the Alpha Claymore) but uncertain on which plate to go with as 2/3 plates sound too harsh and what difference would the standard shave to say the Vector...? But then again AC blades provide me the closest shave compared with DE blades...???

I can recommend the standard SB plate. It works fine giving a very comfortable shave with Prolines or PINKs, and using the Super gives it a lot more tooth, roughly in the R41 range (but much more comfortable). I had the OC plate when I first got the razor, and it was a bit uncomfortable on my dome. Thinking about it now, as a daily shaver, I wouldn't consider getting any more OCs.

Comparison to the Vector is hard: they'll both get you to a perfect Dolphin-Butt shave, but as everyone here knows, the Vector is my ultimate grail razor and daily driver.
