@TomG excellent summary on the composition of the various steel types.
Do you know what "chemical steel" is? It is stamped on a folding Kamisori and is quite hard. gives a great honed edge and seems almost like stainless steel.

Hi Steve.
Chemical steel is likely a marketing rather than technical term. I suspect that it is A18 steel. This alloy, compared to Silver steel, has a higher chromium content (~8%), and also contains ~1.5% molybdenum and ~2% vanadium. It is typically classed as a cold work tool steel. Its properties are consistent with the razor you describe.

Picked this up at a local market yesterday.

Thanks @TomG and @alfredus, it is excellent to have the knowledge pool we have here on P&C. @TomG thanks for the additional information you provided in our conversation and I really appreciate your experience and knowledge base. I love it when I'm "trying" to talk and understand soap making chemistry with @alfredus and @khun_diddy and they both because of their genuine qualifications in chemistry can explain in the easiest way how things work. Thanks guys. I continue to learn.

We shall see how well these help Mrs Mark1966 not to lose things -

Looked at the Tile alternative but that has a built in battery and has to be returned for replacement (an expensive exercise from Australia) whereas these TrackR ones have a replaceable battery. Will be interested to see how effective they are.

(BTW - if you are thinking of buying, hang off until a sale. This was a Buy Two Get Two Free Offer that somehow got me five!)

I showed my wife these and she reckoned I need one transplanted into my forehead for those times when I don't know where I am! (n)
I've been told before I couldn't find my own butt in the dark ... ... ... please don't offer your suggestions blokes.

Everything works as it should and still has the original blade case. Could all do with a very good clean though.

The old baking soda trick and that beauty should come up just fine!

2 deliveries this week
1st from @Psmith

The emulsion is awesome. Perfect balm consistency for me. Still prefer the splashes but some days just suit a balm. The Dragon Noir is a complex scent, not in love with it but I'm sure it will grow on me, and thanks for the EJ, very kind of you

2nd was my first Shaver Heaven order, and it sure won't be my last, the scent on the Spiced Mahogany is awesome. And the lather I made this morning was the slickest ever. Post shave my face felt smooth, as if I'd already put my post shave goodies on.
And I grabbed some single edge blades ready for when I finally take the dive and get a Gem or similar after how much I enjoyed the one from the travelling box
