@TomG excellent summary on the composition of the various steel types.
Do you know what "chemical steel" is? It is stamped on a folding Kamisori and is quite hard. gives a great honed edge and seems almost like stainless steel.

Hi Steve.
Chemical steel is likely a marketing rather than technical term. I suspect that it is A18 steel. This alloy, compared to Silver steel, has a higher chromium content (~8%), and also contains ~1.5% molybdenum and ~2% vanadium. It is typically classed as a cold work tool steel. Its properties are consistent with the razor you describe.
