Does anyone have a genius, neat and tidy way of storing packets of blades they've purchased?

I'll have about five hundred once the orders all arrive, and if there's something 'perfect', it would be nice to store them neatly.

I use a couple of large plastic air tight food container for the bulk of my blades. It is a good idea to throw in some of those desiccant bags to remove moisture.

And always store them in a dark cool place directly away from sunlight, not in the bathroom.

Thanks, I hadn't considered the airtight part of it, which will change what I look for.

I've found superlock containers to be the most airtight for another hobby, but they can be a little challenging to find.

For posterity - looks like most cardboard razor 5 packs are 27mm x 48/49mm x 8mm and the plastic encased ones are 27mm x 51mmx9mm. I like the idea of being able to store the razors vertically if I want, so a box with a ~60mm depth should be a decent choice.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/313897184143? (870ml clear container - 15.5 x 15.5 x 6 (W x L x H) ) - should allow a 3x5 razor storage for 15 per face up layer (with ~1.5cm spare, with a stack depth of ~7 cardboard or ~6 plastic. About 90 plastic packs, or 105 cardboard packs if stored face up. If stored vertically, 5 columns (with about 1cm spare width) and~18 cardboard packs across the box in each column, or ~17 plastic for about 90 cardboard packs. So face up should actually be more efficient, with less direct access to each individual pack (but would look better). Total razor Storage per box? ~450-500 if it all works out. Not bad.

There shouldn't be enough slack space for piles to collapse, but provides enough for dessicant packs. Let's see... ordered 2 boxes.

Edit: if you are ordering >$100 then https://www.kitchenware.com.au/lock-and-lock-square-short-food-container-870ml-hpl823.html these guys are cheaper. Lock and Lock are excellent containers for the kitchen as well.

Edit again - this is probably going to end poorly. Dimensions are almost certainly outside :(

OOPS.

Maybe something like this instead -

160l should be enough, away, the biggest Bunnings have: https://www.bunnings.com.au/icon-plastics-160l-black-tuffman-heavy-duty-storage-container_p0209158

Maybe a 40 ft container? :)

ok, so attempt #2 - a face up 4 wide across by 4 (IE 100 blade pack) is 195mm x 135mm.

https://www.hartsofstur.com/lock-lock-1-6-litre-rectangular-storage-container-hpl824.html is 228mm x 165mm x 70mm.

That allows 33mm length, and 30mm length buffer for the latches and moulding draft.

On Lock and Lock HPL814, the base is 132mmx90mm at the bottom, with an official size of 151 x 108 x 58mm... so basically a 19mm difference from bottom outside measurements, and the base outside (inside is likely ~2.6mm wall thickness). The 1.6L size looks like a winner. My guess is you can stack 9 cardboard packs high (66mm measured), so total 900 blades per box. I can't find a supplier in Australia for that particular box size though.... lol.

Edit: found it on Amazon and ordered it. Apparently should be here tomorrow - I'll report back: https://www.amazon.com.au/Airtight-Rectangular-Container-Removable-54-10-oz/dp/B00466I4E8/?th=1 Interestingly... the one with dividers is cheaper than the one without...

For anyone following along at home - the container linked above is the one shown in the post here: https://paste-and-cut.com.au/commun...-shaving-acquisitions.7376/page-3#post-200507 and is now on sale for ~$16.50 ( I ordered another one... cause I may have just ordered 400 Nacets... I'm just not sure the Russia situation is going to resolve any time soon). It fits 19 per layer with tucks face up, and comfortably about 7 high (total 133) at the edges (there is a rim on the lid that sticks down and hits the packets around the edge of the box) and 9 in the center. You can probably get in ~140-150 packs face up is my guess.

Or, if you're happy with storing the tucks vertically, ~ 17/18 per row across the width of the box, and 7 rows = ~125 packsx5 or 625 blades. You can probably fit another 2 layers of packs on top of that (not around the edges) if you want to maximise the storage, and probably get around the same as face up.

So, total storage is not 900 blades per box, but pretty neat (the rounded corners on the boxes that allow a great seal aren't great for storing square packs) and probably around 700 blades

So I wasn't happy with how the blade tucks moved around in the box. So I got a display folder from Officeworks with a clear front: https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop...cket-refillable-display-book-clear-jbrfdb20cr and cut some dividers to go in the box.

The J Burrows folders have a thicker plastic which is a good balance of rigidity and flexibility.

For anyone else that wants to do the same OCD thing, the 'perfect' divider size is 138mmx63/64mm (or 26 lines on the folder pattern). You'll notice there's a 45 degree trim at the top corners (about 1cm from the corner) to allow the lip inside the lid to fit when the box is closed. There's also a ~1cm radius trimmed at the bottom corners to fit the box moulding.

The dividers in each row are 49mm wide, and 63mm high.

7 tucks high seems to be the reasonable limit. Each donor folder should provide plastic for 1 box per cover (2 per folder).

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!

Next level anally retentive - the perfect P&C solution!

If you are REALLY anally retentive, you'll flip your tucks to make the side flaps all face down so it's easier to put the dividers in. Or you know... just put the dividers in before you put the blades in there.
You're welcome! :)

I got a 35 litre capacity plastic tub to store my 5,000 blades. I also put a bunch of moisture absorber pods in there.

I take out 2 years worth of blades at a time so I don't have to open it often.

I'd love to see how organised your shed is :)
