[No advocacy of anything more than 'reasonable chastisement' should be inferred by this post]

As one who grew up in a South East Asia Chinese household, "reasonable chastisement" is quite complimentary already  Nothing against my folks, it's what they knew.

My siblings and I all got the occasional whacking with the clothes-brush when we had it coming. And by jove we enjoyed it... :ROFLMAO:

Clothes brush? Luxury.

After my mother got sick of breaking her dress making rulers on me, I copped an extension cord.

And you tell the young kids of today, and they don't believe you.

My parents were fine, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with my childhood at home, and I consider it very privileged.

However, I did spend a spell of a couple of years at a pre-primary school run by a coven of sadistic nuns who set an extraordinary example of Christian benevolence. They used to routinely use a strap on the palms of our hands, when a cane wasn't immediately available. At least in my case, that came to an end when I broke that cane over my knee, then grabbed the strap out of the hand of that so-called "reverend mother" and chased her around the courtyard with it. I was no longer welcome at that school after that, which suited me very well.

Precious memories...

The younger generations will see this and think its such a long time ago never to know it was still used in my school in the 2000’s and probably still alot around the world today
