Nice shave will hopefully be the start of an improving day @borked !

Preshave: Top Seven Emulsion
Razor: DE89 with Windrose Handle
Blade: Voskhod
Brush: Shavemac 177 black
Soap: Speick
Post Shave: Nivea Balm and Old Spice
Still had some LPL in the bowl so mixed it with the Speick to produce an excellent Uber lather. Few drops of glycerin added for some extra slickness. Decided to try a Voskhod blade again after my first try was unsatisfactory. Well I can say this blade is not for me. Tugged and pulled and not very smooth. Finished two passes and called it quits. Still got a reasonable shave but not as much fun.

Only real point of today's shave was to test out the hone on @filobiblic 's straight. Well not his razor per se, but the razor I picked from my line-up to satiate his curiosity about coticule edges - as I'm certain he's getting over my banging on about how many other stones are sharper, but nothing being smoother.

Anywho the Bengall gave a very nice shave indeed, representative of the coticule edge that I'm qualified enough to created.

Helped through by a phenomenal lather from the SV Arctic Tundra, and nice recovery with the self-same AS 'balm'. Credit can't just go to the soap here, as that Semogue pulled its weight, no question. The tips are softening so nicely, it is, no doubt, the best badger I have ever owned! (done the likes of Thater, shavemac and even Simpsons FOUR TIMES!)

P.S., the other razor was another test shave. It's an old beater that I used to test out the Unicot method and bevel setting on a coticule for the first timem this morning. Very surprised by the results....won't go into the detail here though as only six of you read this far and only two of us is really interested (who can have a peek here!).

After-shave: The Stray Whisker aftershave splash (HT @shavetheman)

I received a sample of an aftershave splash from The Stray Whisker and have been meaning to try it out. Simply superb! I'm not sure if all the ingredients but there's alcohol and menthol. When you apply it there's a flash of cold and a sharp medicinal scent. But a blink later and it mellows into a beautiful soft fragrant scent that's light with an earthy citrus/fruity scent. It's pleasing and not over bearing. I'd say that it's perfect as an aftershave splash as it doesn't over-power scent wise so you can apply a fragrance over the top. My skin also feels quite good. There must be some oil or moisturiser in the splash as my hands have the glistening smoothness after applying this splash.

Bottom line is that it's a winner in my books. I'm going to add this to my next order (along with some of TSW aftershave balm!!!). There's a few weeks wait until it's in apparently...

(And I forgot the fork!)

Proraso pre
SV 70th Anniversary soap
Omega Boar
Muhle R41 2011 / UFO TiTan handle / Vokshod
then ... Merkur 34C HD / Astra SP
Thayer's Original
SV 70th Anniversary ASB

Why the 2 razors? I started with the Muhle and then switched to the Merkur to finish off this morning.

I'm trying to find a good fit for the Vokshod blades but the peril factor seemed too high using them in the R41. I can usually cope with the beastly R41 with other blades.

Vokshods get so much love, I seem to have not matched them up with an appropriate razor as yet. Next time I might try the fat boy.

Thank you my friend - wasted a couple hours on it. Wanted to make it with snow first - but then the storm thing in the US made me think, today might not the best day for that...

Preshave: PAA Ice preshave soap
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89 with Windrose Handle
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Mystic Water Cuppa Joe
Post Shave: Thayers Lemon Witchhazel and Razorock Limes balm. Finished off with Terre Hermes EDP
Three pass shave that was just a lot of fun. The love affair continues with Mystic Water, just gets better and better. As the name suggests this has a coffee scent , but not too strong and quite pleasant. Superb lather in every way. The result is easy BBS and now ready for the day.

Pre:
Musgo Real Glyce Soap
Brush: Simpson PJ2 Super
Soap: Tabac
Razor: iKon DLC Slant
Blade: Persona Red (2)
After: Alum, Thayers, Trumpers Coral Skin Food
Soundtrack: Seu Jorge The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions

Fantastic DFS today. Previously I've been spending too long showering and washing my face, stripping oils away, then washing my face again with Mr Glo. Today a brief shower with just water on face. The Israeli Persona wasn't as sharp as I'd like, but it gives a very smooth, irritation free shave. Maybe I should try the blues.

The Personna Lab Blues (aka Med Preps) are in my view smoother than their Israeli cousin. I have a hunch that you'd like them much more.
