Face Wash : Shower
Brush : Fine Synthetic
Soap : Stirling Sharp Dressed Man
Razor : Jerry Stark 6/8" Spanish Point
After Shave : Stirling Sharp Dressed Man

Where can you get Stirling products here? Keen to try the sharp dressed man. But, what does an Irish tweed smell like? Does it smell like pine or something more woody? Tried looking for scent description, a little hard without knowing what irish tweed smell like. Trying to look for a soap that smells like pine.

B/S/T threads and that's it in Aus. Probably my favourite soap to date (I do prefer tallow soaps). Available from a few US & Canadian suppliers including stirling themselves.

If you're after a pine scent, the Stirling Ozark Mountains would be the one you want.

Cheers! Maybe it's time to finally use my Borderlinx account that was created for USA PSN deals back then!

Stirling ship to Australia now.
Not sure on cost though. I'm waiting for their summer specials to arrive at which time I might finally join the synthetic brush brigade as well.

I wonder if you could have an all-Aussie shave? Soap, razor, brush, aftershave - all from Australia. The challenge is set.

Yeah Filo, I thought quite hard about this one. At first I thought it should be pretty easy, but reality set in pretty fast. And I don't want to buy a batch of shaving stuff I don't really like just so I can do one more SOTD article

Soap would be easy, I have some Aussie Gillette blades as do a few others. I know one member here with an Aussie bruch (although whether it would lather is another thing) and there were some Aussie manufactured razors - but it would be hard to do.

Yes indeed @Mark1966 - you've taken a realistic look at it straight away. I agree with you - hard to do indeed

I don't think you can buy them here @silver. I bought direct from Stirling, which was worth it for a mini Group buy. If you're looking for a pine scented soap, I can recommend Stirling Soap's Ozark Mountain. It has an excellent conifer fragrance. :)

Just sent them a query. Will get back to me regarding shopping.

Yeap Yeap Yeap, that's the one I'd probably get. Maybe along with the sharp dressed man.

Pre-Shave: Occams pre-shave soap, cold water
Razor: Merkur 45 Bakelite from the P&C Travel box V3.a
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Brush: Paladin Chief
Lather: Mike's Bay Rum
Post-shave: Alum, Myrsol Agua Balsamica from the P&C Travel box V3.a

Last shave for me with the box and the review is up here

Very affordable. I just bought 2 full tubs + 5 samples & I want to say it was under $20 or $25 USD.
Nice, pine scented ones are the ones I'll be getting. I'll just tell the missus that I was sent these samples to review, I didn't buy them! Now, gently put the bat away.

Another great picture @alfredus - you didn't post-process the effects in with the GIMP did you? Or did you?

Thank you again!

What do you mean? There is a camera that knows to keep my brush in colour and the rest of the picture in B&W :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Brush: Simpsons Polo 8 Best
Razor: EJ 89
Blade: Rapira
Soap: D.R. Harris Lavender
A/S: Barrister and Mann Reserve

Not at all impressed with the PL8, feels great dry but add a bit of soap and water and it rapidly becomes a floppy mop.
Already tired of the Manchurian :D
Can't wait to read your thoughts...

Razor: Weber Polished Head on Bulldog Handle
Blade: Vintage NOS French Gillette Super Stainless (7)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson AS2
Soap/Cream: P.160 Tipo Morbido
Aftershave: Floid Vigoroso

After setting myself the 'challenge' of an internationalist shave yesterday based on @Draco Noir's world tour it really was not too hard!

Razor: United States of America
Blade: France
Brush: England (yes, pre Isle of Man)
Soap/Cream: Italy
Aftershave: Spain

Simple and effective!

While @alfredus doesn't like the (original) P.160 it has a special place for me. There is something about that almond/marzipan smell that is classic Italian. It is also a soap which has a lot of 'firsts' for me:

first bulk (1 kb brick) buy;
first experience of watching the hysteria around a shaving product being discontinued (hey, the world hasn't ended - what gives?);
first (and only) purchase 'Opened for inspection' by customs - not sure why a square 1kg brick of organic matter from Italy would raise alarm bells.

When my current TOBS tub full runs out I will not be slashing my wrists, there are lots of other soaps that are probably better performers - but this is an icon really. Make sure you have a try from the PCTB 3a

... just doesn't hang around more than a minute. That was with the boar. Maybe I'll give it one more go on sat with the Duke2.
How new are your brushes? That boar (from memory it's the Semogue #1305 you have) needs to have been used about 30 times before its soft & the bristles don't "absorb" the lather. Even your Duke 2 needs to have some lathers under its belt before it settles down. People argue about breaking in brushes, but hair is organic and there is something that needs to adjust. The amount of times varies, but boat brushes need far more use than badger before settling down.

It sounds to me that it's not the soap, it's not *necessarily* your technique, but it's likely to be your brush(es) itself.
