Muhle R89 / Dorco Prime Platinum
Omega 48 Pro
Super-Max Menthol
TN Dickinson's WH
L'Oreal Hydra Energetic ASB

An excellent 3.5 pass shave. The Super-Max Menthol lathers-up quite easily and is slick as long as enough water is used. However, this cream appears to thin-out easily, which is particularly evident in the 2nd and subsequent passes. It still provided a great shave (I might try using a bit more product next time). I wasn't sure what to think of the Dorco Prime Platinum blades during my first three shaves since I had nicked myself a few times, but they appeared to smooth-out a lot from the fourth shave onwards. Hence the reason why I decided not to bin the blade after the fourth or fifth shave - My last three shaves with this blade were excellent. I'll bin it for now, but I do think I could easily get more shaves out of it. Topped it off with L'Oreal Hydra Energetic ASB, which is a thin gel-based balm that works well for me during the warmer months.

Happy Shaving Everyone !!

On a scale of 1 to rough tonight's shave was rough. All blades were very sharp. Soap was good and lather was great - but - my whiskers felt like re enforced steel and refused to cut cleanly. I started with a straight and it seriously felt dull so not wanting to prolong the agony I took out my 1912 with a brand new blade and it felt the same. It was 2 days growth but felt like hacking through a jungle. Hacking the operative word. I took a second pass with the straight and it felt better. Shouldn't have gone for a touch under the chin. Not a comfortable shave and a couple of nicks. Only 24 hours to try again. Has anyone else had a tough beard shave for no apparent reason?

Razor: I'd almost recommend you avoid this one @Dale.Whiley if the Arctic Mango Extreme made your face numb!
I probably will avoid it. While I found using menthol soap an interesting novelty, I didn't really "go fot it". Menthol scent just doesn't do much for me. That said, I recommend people try the Arctic Mango Extreme. Certainly is cooling.

Pre-shave : Geo F Trumper lime skin food
Cream of the night: TOBS Sandalwood (have I told you how much I love this cream?)
Brush: Omega 48 pro
Razor: iKon B1 slant
Blade: ASTRA SP
After shave : khiel's calendula and Aesop Moroccan neroli

Tried a different blade tonight. The ASTRA causes less irritation than the feathers, almost none, might try the personna blues, only thing holding me back is that I have to get a bag of 100. Still having a hard time getting the chin area smooth. Need to spend more time with the slant. Great razor love the B1 finish. The scent of TOBS sandalwood always always always makes me feel so good. Great performance too, lathers like a champ. Finished up with the calendula toner then the after shave lotion. Overall, it's a good shave!

Razor: Weber Polished Head on Bulldog Handle
Blade: Vintage NOS French Gillette Super Stainless (6)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Jabonman Ylang Ylang-Patchouli-Orange
Aftershave: Myrsol Formula C

Jabonman soaps are really a hidden gem. I became aware of them as a result of a group buy here organised by the wonderful @filobiblic a couple of years back - Group Organised Buy: Jabonman Soaps

Without an internet shop front and the natural propensity for self promotion of some American vendors these soaps slip under the radar a little. Realistically - they are hard to get. Having got a couple though I'm very pleased I have - they are great soaps. The scents are nice and the performance certainly top shelf.

How else to finish off such a shave but with the Myrsol, another great product. I was thinking of claiming this as a themed shave inspired by @Draco Noir but it doesn't really cut it with an English brush, French blade and US razor. Hmmm now there is an idea ...

Tomorrow I will go for an internationalist shave - each product from a different country!

I wish I had got a weber before they disappeared.

Just ask. Many of us here have several hundred of each brand of blades and would love to send a few in the post if you asked.
@LifesaPeach has a pooled assortment of blades for new members that -if requested- will be able to send to you.
Personna Lab Blues are a popular choice of many of us. A good middle-of-the-road blade.

Thanks for that! Would that be in the b/s/t threads? Sorry still quite new here, don't mind the noob.

Yep. Just post something in the BST thread. But I've summoned LaP so he'll be along in good time to let you know what he's able to send you.

Preshave: Proraso Green
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89 with a Windrose Handle
Blade: Personna Med Prep(also known as Personna lab blue)
Brush: Vie Long Horse
Soap: Martin de Candre Fougere
Post Shave: Thayers Lemon Witch hazel and Fine Fresh Vetiver
Three pass shave to happiness. The Personna med preps are a good blade that suits me very well. Sharp and smooth and work very well in the mild Edwin Jagger. Left no irritation and no whiskers. (@silver PM me your details and I will send you some in the post)

Face Wash : Shower
Brush : Fine Synthetic
Soap : Stirling Sharp Dressed Man
Razor : Jerry Stark 6/8" Spanish Point
After Shave : Stirling Sharp Dressed Man

alla Americana! Today we visit America, a country that has made a massive contribution to both the best and the worst of shaving. Stirling got the nod for software today, thanks to it having a wonderful matched pair in the Sharp Dressed Man soap and AS.

The Fine Accoutrements synthetic brush made child's play of producing a big, rich and protective lather from the wonderful smelling Stirling soap. I count Stirling's soaps in my top 5 - for me they're a superior quality product and I always enjoy using them. The shaving was handled beautifully by the Jerry Stark razor. It's another razor that scores high marks from me for both comfort and efficiency, much like the Brucke I used in my German shave.

I finished the experience off with a liberal splash of Sharp Dressed Man AS, which not only delighted me fragrance-wise but left me with wonderful skin feel. Another great shave based on the "Single Origin" bee in my bonnet this week...

This shave wraps up my silly Shavealogue, probably to the relief of many of you, but I've enjoyed myself heaps trying to come up with hardware/software combos that fit the overall theme. And who knows what crazy whim may get hold of me next?

It's been great for our viewing pleasure.

I wonder if you could have an all-Aussie shave? Soap, razor, brush, aftershave - all from Australia. The challenge is set. [emoji6]

As someone who absolutely loves Mystic Waters I can only say this: once you have it right (the way it looks in the video) - you will look very differently at a lot of other soaps. Your definition of "perform very well" will change...

In the meantime: a small surface area for loading is always a bad idea - it will make your life a pain. It is much easier to press the sample (really thin) in a wide vessel. I learned this some time ago with sample from Mike's - I couldn't get the samples to work, but had no problem with the full puck in a tin...took me some time to figure it out.

The second issue: water. I don't know about you, but here in Adelaide we have very hard water and I prefer to use distilled water - makes lathering so much more fun!

I don't believe we have hard water here. I do have some distilled water I could use I suppose. Anyway I spread the puck out into a wide dish today. Followed the video, got heaps loaded onto the brush, lather (face) formed nicely with brush strokes BUT... but then it faded! Get the left side going great, move over to the right to get some over there and by the time I did, I was 50% gone already from the left. No, there were no bubbles... just doesn't hang around more than a minute. That was with the boar. Maybe I'll give it one more go on sat with the Duke2.

He'd have to go and shoot his own pig to get the bristles for a brush.

I'm pretty sure the brushes sold in Coles/Woolies don't count as brushes, let alone Australian made.

Soap would be easy, I have some Aussie Gillette blades as do a few others. I know one member here with an Aussie bruch (although whether it would lather is another thing) and there were some Aussie manufactured razors - but it would be hard to do.
