That's a beautiful razor. Are GEM blades as good as Artist Clubs? They don't seem to be as popular/common.
And honestly, that is what has prevented me from buying a Sabre.
Best way to find out is to try. I'd say they are as good but very different. The GEM blades are mellower, possibly more forgiving, so the artist club type blades it's probably fair to say are sharper. I'd say you are less likely to get irritation from a GEM blade.
You can still pick up 1912 pattern GEM razors in nice condition very cheaply on eBay so that is an option, or I've got a nice example of one that's a spare that I could send to you as a loaner with a couple of blades to try.

Post shave oil + Sacred Earth splash

Cracking shave!! This brush/soap combo is probably my all time favorite...in other words, my "deserted island" pick!

Some skin dryness from the season change meant the post shave oil (Dindi Natural) made an appearance. Beautiful finish to a brilliant shave!

Definetaly in the "pink" tonight. Blood thinners working a treat and after a couple of over confident quick strokes the lather looked very much like strawberry - vanilla swirl yoghurt.
Still it was a good straight razor DFS so no real complaints.

Soap: Pb Max MkII
Brush: 26mm TF KBBB
Razor: Rocnel Elite
Blade: Feather (1)
Post: Jojoba Oil
AS: Pb Max
Same shave as a year ago except I chose Max MkII instead of Max and I didn't get any weepers. :) I always get a good shave from the Elite but I would prefer if it was more efficient as it takes more work than what I would expect to achieve BBS.

Another top shave from the C plate. The Karve is my best razor by a long stretch leaving the Rockwell for travelling predominantly.

Did a bowl lather today which was very good except for the brush handle clinking on the sides. The cream was well hydrated and voluminous.

Ended with the Florian splash and we have a happy camper for the day - might even repeat it again tomorrow...

DC Blades, 13/16
Haslinger Sandalwood sample
Captain 2
I tried something new today just to play around with water and soap ratios. I used a small atomiser to add water as I was bowl lathering until I was happy with the consistency. I have found the Haslinger soap to give me a high structure lather, which I like. After lathering my face I then used the atomiser to spray some water on top of the lather. In short, I now know what glide really means. The razor literally slipped across my face. As for the second pass, it was just a delight. The only drawback, was that it took a long time to make the lather. I reckon I might leave this routine for weekend shaves.

Coates Lime cream
Post shave oil/Sacred Earth splash

Coates cream is wonderful! I was given 3 scents (lime, rose, tea tree) by a friend and I really like them, even though I'm not a fan of creams overall. This one lathers more like a soap.
