Nice to see the Tassie bush in your SOTD again.
It never leaves for long. :) That Snow Leopard is far and away the best knot I have. Soft, so lathering is gentle as a cloud, but enough backbone to make lathering easy, so no floppy wet noodle behaviour. Other synthetics that I have (Tuxedo, Plissoft, SynBad, Pony and SilkSmoke) just don't compare at all. I've never used the Snow Leopard in a smaller size, and it may not be so good there, but it's no wonder the 30mm is always sold out.

Pre-shave: Hot water, Pears soap
Brush: Forgotten Art "Southern Skies" 30mm Snow Leopard
Soap: Mystic Water - Jeff's Lavender
Razor: Blackland Vector
Blade: Kai PINK (1)
Post-shave: Shower, homebrew moisturiser, La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50+, Stirling Bergamot Lavender EDT
COTD: Shakisso Estate, Ethiopia

For some reason I found myself craving this lovely peppery lavender from Mystic Water - and the best thing to do with a craving is give in to it. The MW takes a bit of work to get the lather just right, but it's worth every moment. A perfect DSBBS.
Irish did a stellar job with your Tarkine & Southern Skies brushes, lovely colours

Yep, he also did a great job of setting that big knot, just right. I've come to realise there's a bit more to that than simply gluing a knot into a hole. Next year though, I'm considering replacing the Tux knot in the smaller brush with a boar. Nothing wrong with the way it was done, just my bad choice...

First shave with this brush. Performance was amazing. Easily generated enough lather for three passes. Great flow-through and super soft face feel. Definitely a keeper!
A really nice looking photo... And the brush ain't too bad either! :)

  • Blackland Blackbird SS
  • Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (yellow)
  • Yaqi 24mm High Mountain Badger
  • Eleven Shaving - 5
  • Nivea Sensitive Aftershave Balm
Decided to take Shane's advice and use the blade I normally use instead of the Personna Lab Blues that came supplied with the razor. He said he just added them because they're made in the USA (to fit with the aesthetic of the razor) but was included in case the buyer didn't have any blades to start shaving straight away. Personally, I can't imagine anyone paying USD$185 for a SS razor as a 'first' razor and not have spare blades around to start shaving with, but ok?

Even with the stubby 85mm handle, this razor feels hefty. Much heavier than my Muhle Rocca. Very 'substantial' feeling too. When the blade is loaded and the handle screws in, you can hear a loud "scrunch" as the razor locks the blade in place. No blade chatter with this tank.

The feedback from the blade is fairly muted. It feels like it should be more aggressive than it is, but at the same time felt buttery smooth. I did manage to give myself a small nick under the jawline (from lack of concentration, not the razor). I have to say, I didn't expect to 'enjoy' shaving with it so much. Nice comfortable 3 pass BBS. I'm still rubbing my face a couple of hours later and the usual parts of the face other razors leave rough spots on, still feels smooth. It's a different feeling to all my other razors, and not that I've had enough shaving experience where I'm staring to feel jaded about 'new' razors, it's nice to feel pleasantly surprised. Is it better than my beloved Rocca? Let's just say, I like the Blackbird just as much for different reasons.

I find I'm slightly in envy, even though I decided a while back to specialise with AC razors. It looks like Shane has done a fantastic job creating the Blackbird. Good blade clamping equals no blade chatter, which equals a better shave. I'm often a bit bemused to see posts where guys have spent hundreds of dollars on their razor, but then feed it with merely so-so blades like Treet etc. The Gillette 7OC Yellow is a great blade, well worthy of a fine razor.

24 hour slow cooked brisket

Pre-Shave: Hot Shower
Brush: TF Customs - 26mm boss knot
Soap/Cream: Ethos - Succes
Razor: Edwin Jagger - 3one6
Blade: Gillette - Minora SS (43)
Post-shave: Fine - Platinum Classic AS/ Stirling - Executive Man PS balm

2 pass WTG daily shave = DFS. Surprised how well the Minora blade paired with EJ 3one6. Smoothest shave I can recall using this razor.

43 :wideyed::jawdrop: what do you think so far, ya reckon you’ll squeeze another 7 more shave to go and reach your goal towards 50 and then it’s done and dust.

I am already at 47, just a few days behind in sotd posts.
Yes I believe 50 is possible. By no means am I pushing the blade, still smooth and efficient.
