MY TAKE on today's SOTD
Well Nivea shave stick, mmmmm it lathered easy enough no issue there. Once lathered it slightly emanated a Citrus scent, protection wise was ok, slickness for me let it down. Post shave is when it fell apart for me. It had a skin reaction yes from Nivea a slight uncomfortable feel and blotches on my face and neck noticeable for up to hour an half after the shave. Pondering on trying it again but not so sure I will. For these reasons I'll rate it at 5/10
STARKE Blades. Thanks Daniel. These in part because of there thinness and bend reminded me in a slight way that of a Feather Blade. Performance wise a comfortable blade but slightly let down on performance after 3 passes it still felt I needed another pass. Marketed as German made in India. From what I can find mainly aimed at the Barbershop Shop industry. They also brand there own Shavette style razor. If your someone who has little stubble and wants a comfortable shave these blades will do you well. For that I'll rate at 7.5 / 10

Last night's shave.

Not sure where else to write this. So please bear with me.

On Monday, my grandfather in Malaysia passed away peacefully in his sleep. He contracted Covid and had been in hospital for 8 days, placed on oxygen (not a ventilator). At his age, it was a testament to his own strength that he lasted that long.

I always thought he was a man of few words. I eventually learned that was because grandma (rest her soul) did most of the talking for him or at him. I remember him always having some burns or scratches on his arms from handling chemicals and goods at the shop (our family business) and shrugging them off; driving a manual transmission Proton Saga with no power steering well into his 70s (my cousins and I remember this beater car fondly); traveling to Australia every other year in his 90s to visit; and still going to work every day until recent years.

He enjoyed books, wine and recently, Korean dramas. He enjoyed being together with family; especially when we all managed to get together and have big family dinners. He fawned over his 10 great-grandchildren. Over the years I saw or heard of the many friendships he had with various people from all walks of life; the customers he happily entertained with long chats in the shop, the other proprietors who knew him from early days of business in Chulia Street, Penang more than half a century(!) ago, the boat owners from the nearby port who he sold chemicals to, or a renown local photographer.

Covid has taken a lot from us. It robbed my grandfather of the chance to see his family in his last moments. But it hasn't taken away my memories of him. RIP KK.
Sorry for your loss mate. Having lost all my grandparents, I do understand the heart ache involved.
We are very lucky that they leave us with long lasting memories that we carry with us throughout our lives.

First shave with this brush. Performance was amazing. Easily generated enough lather for three passes. Great flow-through and super soft face feel. Definitely a keeper!

At first I thought Kaizen was going to be too sweet and would be moving on to the BST thread but I was pleasantly surprised it was not sickly sweet and dried down nicely.
From Ruds review: This scent opens sweet and citrusy with a hint of spice. An added creaminess becomes present mid journey before the earth tones balance this fragrance out.
If anything not strong enough and leaving me wanting more. Definitely a bigger splash tomorrow (y)(y)
Minora performing well in the ABC

Pre-shave: Hot shower
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson shaving brush
Soap/Cream: Noble Otter Two Kings shaving soap
Razor: Eclipse Red Ring
Blade: Super Iridium (5)
Post-shave: Noble Otter Two Kings Splash
Fragrance: Penhaligon's Halfeti EDP

Foggy, brooding, ominous morning to start day one of the Canberra Lockdown 2021 (or CL21 as I'm sure it will be known).

Little did I know when I described yesterday's shave as a 'Great start to the day' what the day would hold!

The uncontrollable delight on our Chief Minister's face making the announcing and getting to be a 'real' leader was very obvious ...
