Pre-shave: Hot towel, Osma Pre-shave Oil
Brush: SOC Finest Badger
Soap: Ach Brito Mogno
Razor: Blackland Vector
Blade: Schick Proline
Post-shave: Icy cold towel, Osma After Shave Balm

A cheap and very good hard soap. It burst into lather with a touch of the wet brush. The scent is lovely. The lather starts to become thin after a while on face without losing slickness. The post shave feel is average, easily remedied with a good aftershave balm.

Yesterday my Blue Devil Strawberry Patch arrived. I used it this morning and learned an important lesson. This stuff lathered up so beautifully and smelled so amazing, I'll probably have to refrain from using it early in the morning when I'm still half asleep so that I don't mistake it for some sumptuous Strawberry and Vanilla yoghurt or dessert! Just because it looks and smells like it would taste great, that doesn't mean it will...
I wouldn't recommend eating it... Leaves an awful after taste...

WTF just happened, I grabbed this stuff Vines Vintage Shave Cream 1937 out of the PAB and WTF it was like amazing. I wet the Boar poked it's bristles into the tub to catch some cream on the tips wet the face applied and it went nuts lathering. 3 passes and what !! nothing like was expecting. Post feel is great soft and fresh. It's always the ones you don't expect to get great results from.

Pre-shave: Hot shower, Proraso Green Pre-shave
Brush: Jack the Barber (Woolies) - presumably synthetic.
Soap: Strawberry Patch
Razor: Razorock German 37 and Jack the Barber
Blade: Gillette Nacet(1) and Voskhod Teflon Coated(2)
Post-shave: Cold water, Alum block, Nivea balm

I don't normally shave daily but decided to give it a crack after my eureka moment with the Voskhod blade yesterday. I got a bit carried away lathering and added too much water but still had a brilliant shave. Just shows how good that soap is!

I did WTG and ATG passes with the RR slant/Nacet combination, then went to town on my neck area with the Voskhod in the Jack the Barber. I have no idea how mild that shaver is, I'm too new to this to judge, but I really went after the growth that goes in about 700 different directions below my chin. I knew I might end up with bad irritation, but this was a learning moment. I was amazed to end up with the best shave I've had so far, and the least irritation I've had - no more than what I end up with when I scrub my neck before shaving. I had a couple of tiny weepers on raised spots, but the alum block only produced the smallest amount of reaction. Looking at my neck a couple of hours later, there was only the smallest amount of redness. When I was doing my touch-ups there were times I'd go over an area three times in different directions without re-lathering, and my skin was slick and irritation-free the whole time.

I was using a Nacet for the first time and I was very impressed. I got an excellent smooth shave with no irritation and it didn't have any nasty surprises.

I'm now a very happy camper knowing that I can shave daily if I want to, and I can also get a BBS result with little to no irritation. Woohoo! (y)

Pre-shave: Hot water, Pears soap
Brush: CaYuen "Copper Ore" 30m SynBad
Soap: Mystic Water - Rosalimone
Razor: Blackland Vector
Blade: Schick Proline
Post-shave: Shower, homebrew moisturiser
COTD: Monsoon Malabar Gold, India

Keeping the soap sample from yesterday - still enjoying it, but didn't get quite the same rapturous response to it as I did yesterday. Maybe it was a reaction to yesterday's lovely lettuce-green dawn and balmy spring aspect, which didn't happen this morning. Michelle has a huge range of natural fragranced soaps, and they're beautifully executed.

Didn't bother with the sunblock this morning, and now regret it. Ended up getting a bit burnt. :banghead:

Interesting about the QC - I could be completely wrong, but I was given to understand the Voskhods came from the same St Petersburg factory as Wizamet and all those Gillette blades. But there again, I suppose it's a bit weird that one factory produces so many different blades (and how?)

I feel like its perhaps more to do with the coating and process that voskhod blades go through during production which affects its overall smoothness.

Voshkod and Rapira are produced in the JSC Mostochlegmash factory in Moscow.

They are like the poor man's Gillette. No appologies for the analogy. In general the blades are not up to the standard of those produced in the PPi St Petersburg factory. Some people can get them to work for them, others cannot.

For myself I am in the others cannot camp. ( that's being kind) You will never ever see me use one in a Sotd post.

I guess I definitely fall into the first category then because I have tried several different Rapira blades and they are all comfortable for me, I particularly liked the Rapira Platinum Lux blades. I felt like the LUX blades were sharp and smooth at the same time.
I enjoy Ladas blades which are also made at the same factory. I think this was back when Con at The Stray Whisker used to carry a variety of blades and I was keen to try them all.
Which types of Rapira blades did you try use?
I think you're right about peoples opinions of the blades though. I wasn't expecting them to be that great when I bought them but was pleasantly surprised. It's certainly one of those YMMV cases I guess.

Its not you mate, their soap is utter shit. I had a bar soap of theirs and it turned to slime when wet and was unusable. Their response was that was normal soap behavior.
