I've heard Petrichor is to be discontinued, but I just don't enjoy the scent

Really? It is a little niche, but I'm just amazed every time I use it how evocative it is. There are a couple of Declaration Grooming ones similar but I cannot recall their names!

RAZOR: Thiers Issard 11/16"

Pre-shave: Hot water, Pears soap
Brush: Forgotten Art "Tarkine" 26mm Tux
Soap: Shaver Heaven - Garden Citrus - thanks (y) @Wilkskire13
Razor: Blackland Vector
Blade: Schick Proline
Post-shave: Shower, homebrew moisturiser, La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50+
COTD: Monsoon Malabar, India

Realised the other week that I still have a few samples left from a big selection that @Wilkshire13 generously sent a while back. Somehow I managed to get distracted, I obviously have the attention span of a goldfish. So first up, unobtainium Shaver Heaven, a sweet take on a citrus theme. Gave myself a totally profligate load of lather for a perfect DBS. Nice, maybe I should have kept this for a warmer month to enjoy it at its best.

RR JAWS
Wizamet
Zenith Boar
Son of Zeus
Neutrogena Hydro Boost

The jaws bit a little when not fully concentrating, nothing bad but enough to get your mind back on the job..

Got the neutogena from a suggestion on another forum, all I can say is I love this stuff.. unlike balms or other moisturiser’s I’ve used this stuff fully absorbs into the skin leaving no greasy residue behind, and leaves the skin amazingly soft and well hydrated 👍

First use of the SMDF and the base scents seemed a bit confused, probably because I don't smell the tobacco but SWMBO can . I thought it had some vetiver but the scent list says otherwise. To my nose the base notes were competing with each other as I was shaving a nice light grungy scent I thought was vetiver being overcome by Eucalyptus and Menthol. I didn't get a tobacco smell but I never have. I enjoy tobacco (cigar) scents on others but cannot smell them on myself. Dried down to a nice sweet vanilla smell with possibly some tobacco that I couldn't detect. The glass jar is a nice touch as is the traditional packaging kraft labels. Provided a beautiful slick lather that required very little smooshing and could be painted on easily. Must get some of The Dead Sea into the den (y):)(y)

Edit: just noticed wrong blade package

Pre: Hot Shower, Nivea Skin & Stubble
Brush: DSCosmetic T4
Soap: Nordic Shaving Company Coffee
Razor: Fine Marvel
Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (1)
Post: Nivea Skin & Stubble, Aloe Vera

The Bic is pretty damn sharp, maybe slightly edging out the Nacet. A bit rough but I think it kinda smoothed out towards the end.

I discovered the BIC CP when I received a couple from a friend. It blew me away!! It shot up to my #2 blade, after Polsilver.

However, the BIC is not suitable in my efficient razors like ATT H, Yates H, Karve D etc.

This blade works wonders in my progress & flexi set at 2.5. These are mild settings for the Polsilver but perfection for the BIC.

BIC also retains its edge incredibly well. I got BBS on 6th use today!

I bulk purchased 600 of the CP and 100 of the BIC Astor, which I've loaded up for tomorrow's shave. If I like them, I'll order a few hundred of them also!

Okay @Mark1966, you told me so :) It more or less clicked in today's shave. Not quite there yet, a few more shaves and I should get it down pat. I still don't think it's the smoothest shave, but boy when you get it right it's like a scythe.

It just so happens that I have very little time not only for TG, but for myself in general. Professional activity forces me to be suddenly and persistently absent from home. I shave quickly and messily, taking advantage of the moment, often having a cup of cold water. So when I am at home and I can shave, having time for it ...

Before: Hot long shower
Machine: SE Yaqi Excalibur with handle by my frends
Razor blade: Schick P-30
Brush: Omega 10098 Professional
Soap: WSP Formula T Olympus
AS: Steam Punk

Why this hot pre-shave shower? Too bad for the water! I explain, I'm not taking a shower because I'm going to be shaving, I'm just shaving because I'm taking a shower. While I am showering, the Omega 10098 bristle brush is drenched in a shavebowl. So time is not wasted. What does a shower do before shaving? Hot water loosens the skin and softens the facial hair. The soap washes away the hardships of everyday life from the face, which does not get into the bloodstream during shaving and possible cuts. So many digressions.

The shaving kit is very offensive due to the rather stubborn stubble. A brush of the right size with bristles will allow you to fluff the stubble in all directions so that it falls easier under the blade. The tallow-based soap provides exceptional glide, which is essential in this case. Generally, with such stubble, I prefer a razor , but I caught the eye of the Se head from YAQI with a handle made by our forum colleague@ Handyman . It is quite an optimal combination due to the proper balance, i.e. the top of the handle has a thickening, which gives a good balance with a very light and wide SE head. The Omega 10098 brush is, in my opinion, the "must have" of every enthusiast. Kneading with it is extremely effective, and applying it has its advantages. The brush on the face is so effective and pleasant that you don't want to tear it off. WSP Formula T soaps have a permanent place in many traditionalist bathrooms. They provide very good shaving parameters.

As for the SE razors, I'm not a fan of them, but honestly I have to admit that due to the thickness and stiffness of the blade, they shave well longer and denser stubble. For this, however, the whole thing must meet certain conditions, namely a comfortable and well-fitted grip. A SE razor that is wider than a typical DE makes it tend to shave better with the sides. For this reason, a good grip, in the sense of balance, corrects this defect and allows the head to be operated correctly within the area of the shaved surface of the face.

I shaved in three passes without trying to be perfectly shaved after the first. Thus, I did not drive the blade several times in the same place, but only dragged the cutting edge over the foam-covered surfaces. This technique saves me from unpleasantness in the form of redness or red dots. After shaving, I used the AS Steam Punk tailor, which suits me very well in all respects. Third parties may have a different opinion. With such a shaven I can now go to church in peace, knowing that there will be no embarrassment.

LOL, I remember havng the exact same experience! Thinking what is all the fuss about with SEs and then, bang, Oh, that is it!

I don't use them all the time for a reason, but they are a great experience every now and then.
