Not being a native of this land, I had to google stobie pole, only to realise I've seen them all over the place. Thanks for putting a name to the artifact....Many people around my old neighbourhood in Adelaide had it growing up the stobie pole.
Glad you are catching up and are now aware of stobie poles @Gargravarr, I have lots of friends from ADL and they have such special memories of them - an Aussie institution
There are a few in WA too, though of course the usual preference there is for jarrah...

For a few hours post shave FMOM has this wonderful burnt peanut brittle smell with a strong cappuccino on the side and then dries down to what I refer to as stewed celery smell. Might be the Geranium it was never my favourite smelling plant. Many people around my old neighbourhood in Adelaide had it growing up the stobie pole.
