I went back to the PAA Gondolier and gave a bloody good deep smell, and yes it does smell floral in a very deep way as an old school barbershop scent, I’ve also got Moons Old School soap coming in the mail soon.
I really like the soap base in Moon soaps. It's always a pleasure to use. The only downside for me to Moon soaps for me is the fact that I cannot get their matching alcohol based aftershaves.

Union is supposed to be their take on the Barbershop scent but to me it smells like fresh linen. I don't recall using it yet but that is the scent I got straight off the puck/from the jar so maybe it opens up a bit more whilst in use.
Their latest soap (Astoria) sounds interesting but I don't know if I could tolerate the mint as well as the eucalyptus together. I feel like it could either completely overpower everything else or be really great.

I hope you enjoy Old School and it gives you many great shaves.

Brush: Semogue 2023 SCNHG LE, tortoise/mistura.
Razor: ERN "Crown & Sword" 1935
Soap: Jabonman "Vetiver de Haiti"
After: Proraso "Cypress & Vetiver"

These Crown & Swords always deliver, they are near perfect razors, the grind on them is as good as it gets. The most common ones are the 1166, I have had quite a few and I never held on to them, but the 1935 is a darn good looking one.

The Semogue mistura knot is a joy to use, and for the rest of the gear.... I am a vetiver guy through and through.

Brush: CaYuen "Watermelon" 28mm AP G5A
Soap: Valobra + a drop of rose EO 3%

COTD: a real Mocha Java: Mocha Ismaili (Yemen) and Kawah Ijen (Java) 50/50.

When all my unscented Valobra is gone, I'll probably just buy some MdC Rose. In the meantime, I'll just enjoy one of the most perfect soaps ever made...

Shave Result: The RazoZero base produced a surprising rich creamy lather from half a teaspoon of soft textured soap. TFS have really maximized the performance from the basic ingredients, it has plenty of primary slickness, even some residual, which all you really need from a budget shaving soap. To me the scent is a pleasant spicy woody tobacco aroma with some floral, lather scent strength 4/10. With the Yaqi Razzo’s largish blade reveal and gap I shaved virtually riding the cap, still I was able to achieve a clean smooth DFS without irritations.

For reference here's the RazoZero basic ingredients: Stearic Acid, Aqua(Water), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance (Parfum), Linalool, Coumarin.

The Gear:

  • Pre Shave: Suavecito Brushless Shaving Cream
  • Brush: Yaqi “Pandi” with 24/54 Tuxedo knot
  • Soap: Tcheon Fun Sing (TFS) - RazoZero:Barbacco
  • Bowl: Yaqi ABS “Duke”
  • Razor: Yaqi Razzo Lite SE (Katana head with AL Handle)
  • Blade: Sunny Supreme Stainless (2)
  • Splash: TN Dickinsons Witch Hazel with Menthol, T.Tree & Peppermint oils
  • Balm: Lucky Tiger Vanishing Cream
  • After Shave: Lucky Tiger Bay Rum AS
  • Moisturiser: Nivea Men Creme (Face-Body-Hands)

When I started wet shaving, the Valobra stick was the first soap that really impressed me. I really miss it.

You’re not alone, I missed Valobra too.

Unfortunately the company doesn’t make shaving soaps anymore, only bath soaps are still available and made.

For a brief interval, I entertained some hope that the new owners of Valobra (Martinelli, familiar for Proraso), would reopen their doors, but too much time has now passed. You'd think it might be worthwhile to get some value for their EUR spent, but apparently not. This is an oldish pic of my Valobra stash...

... I'm halfway through one of those unscented pucks, and the cardboard package of O&C now occupies that turned aluminium bowl.

Enough for a few years, but when it's gone, it's gone forever. :(

But a lovely stash nevertheless! 👍

Pre-shave: Hot towel
Brush: Symmetry Turning - Jurassic Park
Soap: Noble Otter - Lonestar
Razor: Blackland Blackbird Titanium
Blade: Astra
Post-shave: Noble Otter - Lonestar splash

The Blackbird gave an awesome shave, very smooth and it felt very safe. The one thing that surprised me though was the amount of noise it made in the way of feedback, I really wasn't expecting that from a razor with such little blade exposure.
