Lovely shave with Velobra soap, Avon vintage Clint aftershave (brush bottle!!) and APR Florian EdT. Two days growth slain and I am a floral huggy monster for a big Saturday.

However... this wasn't the original plan. I first grabbed my Face Fat Jaffa soap as I hadn't used it in AGES but, unlike before, I couldn't get a lather from it. Reloading, starting again, adding water... something has gone wrong with it. I also have the Green Fougere so I need to see if both have gone funny in storage. Here is a photo I took after 3 minutes of trying to get a proper lather...

Looks better in the pic than it was. Just very thin and foamy. Almost like the Vasse Virgin disaster I purchased on the honeymoon in Margaret River. Anyone else have a soap that went mean on them? I remember it as an easy performer.

I had this happen with a shaver heaven soap and a Nanny's Silly soaps. Both used to lather up beautifully and then boom!...frothy, airy lather no matter what!

I gave away the shaver heaven to a friend who said he'll use it up even with the airy lather. The nanny's I'll use for brush break in I guess.

:grumpy: Spent some time last night rehoning the Kampfe Star Wedge. I was happy with the result. The edge looked great and felt much more convincing than the first attempt but I could not get it to shave today. In the end I resorted to pulling out the Colonial General. Do not know what I'm doing wrong. I don't think I can improve on the edge I've put on the wedge. Anybody else had experience with wedge blades?

Soap: Pb Kaolin Pimento Silk

Vitamin E oil/Sacred Earth splash

Man this brush is humongous!!
I whipped up a semi-lather in a bowl and it performs really well but just too big for my tastes!! I'm a big fan of the 22-24mm boar knots.

The soap smells amazing! I'm a fan of the subtle but pleasant scents.

The vitamin E oil is just wonderful! Just two drops after the shave and it soaks in without any greasy feel.

I suspect it's the glycerine containing products (thayers, balms etc) that cause me to have greasy/tacky skin as the day progresses in the summer months. It's very surprising that even in 42C heat, I'm not suffering from any oily/tacky skin.

Day 1 of using the Karve A open comb plate for the week.

First shave was on 2 days growth and it acted like it never existed. The angle of attack requires a slight adjustment to more riding the cap but once found, it’s a pleasure to use.

got rid of 3 days growth with ease, resulting in a super smooth BBS with zero irritation.. makes me wonder why i am even thinking of another razor

Dovo Bismarck 6/8 full hollow
Squadron Sweetheart
Simfix SF1
Earwom: Kinky Afro - Happy Mondays.

I had wanted to get some Squadron soaps for a while and on checking the website, saw that Sweetheart was going to be discontinued. So picked up a tub along with The Warden. I was hesitant about the scent profile of Sweetheart, but on use I really like it. As for performance from the soap, very happy. Whipped a good bowl lather with enough lather for about 5 passes. I still do not like the synthetic, but what with the crappy Melbourne weather, it does dry out easily. I enjoyed the lather and scent so much that I took 3 passes, which I rarely do. End result, BBS, no nicks and zero irritation. Very happy Monday
