I

I greatly appreciate the advice as I'm a complete novice when it comes to SE razors/blades and the thicker blade looks like it might suit my thicker growth better...? I did test out the Sabre kindly loaned by @Pbgoose which was different but the Vector's slim profile really looks appealing! :nailbiting:
I'd choose the Vector over the Sabre as it is very versatile but I would never part with the Sabre as I love the nostalgia of GEM blade combined with the modern stainless platform and most importantly gives a great shave. (y)

Don't get me wrong as I enjoyed my limited time trying the Sabre as the shaves were somewhat cautious but efficient and the finish matches what can be expected by Shane of Blacklands. What's very tempting with the Vector is the slim design and by all accounts the results are near straight razor minus the fear of doing serious damage if your not confident... Just got a save up the $$$ to afford a Titanium one. :X3:

Razor: Blackland Blackbird
Blade: Gillette Nacet (3)
Brush: Declaration Grooming B13 Go Beyond Jefferson

K2e doesn’t disappoint.

Pre-Shave: Hot Shower
Brush: TF Customs - 28mm boss knot
Soap/Cream: Noble Otter - Neon Sun
Razor: Karve CB - Copper C145 (E)
Blade: Gillette - Stainless ( red & white) (23)
Post-shave: Nobel Otter - Neon Sun AS splash / A&E - skin food nourishing cream

Appologies to all for my late sotd posts, unexpected health issues ontop of the current health issues.

2 pass WTG + touchups daily shave = DFS. Not the smoothest of shaves today, that could be due to the side of the blade being used or the fact the blade is on its 23rd shave.

I have been using the Copper Karve for about 2 weeks now and it starting to patina nicely. I will let it go all grungy before I clean it up and wax it. This razor behaves differently to SS and Aluminum version in relation to smoothness and blade selection. It may behave similar to the brass, that I have not tried. What I have noticed is that blades that give me ok shaves in the SS version, deliver fantastic shaves with this razor. So far I am enjoying the Personna lab blues which deliver ghostly smooth shaves. This particular blade for me normally is very average and not a favourite.

The Soap, Noble Otter - Neon Sun. Scent strength is light to medium for both soap and splash. Scent notes are lime, bergamot, patchouli, oakmoss, musk. This is a light summery refreshing fragrance with the lime and musk scent notes being most prominent. My eldest daughter actually purchased this online for me for father's day. To me the soap base is excellent the splash smells the same as the soap, the fragrance from the combined scents does not offer anything exciting or new. Citrus top notes, musk, patchouli in base add some sweetness, oakmoss adds a very light earthiness to keep the other base notes from dominating.

Overall good but not great.

Every time you show us your kamisori, the blacksmith in me has a little chuckle at the tangs, which are always ever so slightly wonky. It's a symptom of a smith who has a bit of a dip in his anvil. And who doesn't? My biggest anvil certainly does (yes, I still have it) but if I need to hammer something truly straight, I can always use the side. I wonder if all those Japanese smiths cared, or if they just thought it's kind of cool. I think it's cool, but I could never bring myself to leave it like that. Mainly because I know the old man who trained me would have just fixed me with a baleful eye as if to say WTF?

Pre: Hot Shower
Brush: Yaqi Everest
Soap: Oaken Lab Sanctum
Razor: Gillette Fatboy (6)
Blade: Gillette Super Stainless
Post: The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner, Nivea Skin & Stubble

Thanks @Holiday for the Fatboy and the tuck of blades. I'd say the Fatboy is a touch less smooth than the Slim and has a smaller sweet spot angle. I prefer the weight and feel of this though. A Fatboy body with the Slim head would be ideal.

Yep, the not so essential parts of the razor, the handle in particular are, often marked, uneven, bent etc. I personally like the individuality in it too and in a lot of cases these handles were wrapped or covered. I have a couple of iwasaki and a couple of Henkotsu that are meant to be the same but are in fact quite different. I might do some side-by-sides at some stage. The more character the better I reckon.
