OK P&C brethren...

IF I felt the need to buy 1000 blades what would I get?

Vintage Polsilvers?
Polsilver SIs?
Voskod?
Personna Lab Blues?
Astra SP?
Merkur? (cough, cough)
Dorco Prime Platinum?
Something else?

Have you tried the vintage Polsilver browns?
If you like them, I suggest them, since this appears to be the last large lot of them available.

Vintage too ...

I don't know what your plan is for these blades but I really don't think you would be getting as nice a shave with the Russian ones as you do with your current collection of vintage blades.

Possible - but I'm not sure that I have enough to last me into my declining years ...

All the stashes of vintage ones seem to have gone too :(

Whichever one(s) you love beyond measure. Even if they're still currently made, you guard against them being "improved".

I'd be stacking Silver Blues & PermaSharp Supers. Only modern blades worth grabbing in my book.

In the meantime, keep looking for the vintage blades - Wilkies, Schicks, 80's Gillettes.... even older Personnas (pre-86). Anytime you see a couple of hundred of these at a reasonable price, grab them.

There was the 1000-lot Gillette blades on the holder floating around on ebay a while ago - these are the English Platinum (Royal Award) blades but they are expensive. Possibly the best that Gillette ever made, period.

I've got some kind of Russian background and I was really worrying about the quality, but I was pleasantly surprised with Voskhod blades. Now it's my go to blade. Counting the price per blade even if you have 3 shaves from Voskhod (I've got 4 very good shaves) and 6 from vintage Polsilver the price per shave is the same. At the same time Voskhod and Ladas are widely available while you really need to look for vintage Polsilver. Always having BBS with Voskhod. No complaints from my wife. :)

I liked the Voskhods when I first started shaving, but then (when prices were still relatively cheap) I discovered vintage blades along with some of the other people here (@Mark1966 included). Vintage Gillette Spoilers, Silver Platinums, Aussie Spoilers, Schick Plus Platinum, Personnas, Wilkinson Light Brigades (plus others) are just that bit better in terms of sharpness, smoothness, or longevity.
I've traded away (almost) all of my current production blades as I have enough good vintage blades to last me, and current blades just don't hold a candle to the best of the vintage ones.
