Raku soap pot

Back in, I don't know - October or something I started the process of ordering a 100% custom brush (custom handle stock) from Bernd at Shavemac. When he got very busy at Christmas it was delayed and delayed until it finally arrived in January. I used it three times only to find the handle split. So he was very accommodating as he is and promised to send a new one when he received the broken one...It went back, weeks pass, tracking says delievered, emails are being sent, finally a reply - Oh it was stuck in customs I will send a new brush this week. So here I am in February 10 days past the date he promises a new brush being shipped and still nothing. Yet another email and back comes the reply;

So what do I have in the post? Still nothing... Business must be really booming for Bernd because he is not handling the current work load! A M&F is quicker at the moment.

I really understand your frustration @Sxot - but I guess this is the price we have to pay for truly bespoke items...

Try to look at it the other way round: how many standard brushes could Bernd have pumped out instead of your one custom brush?

The good news is, you will be happy one day...And in the meantime you get to enjoy your other beauties ;)

After reading through some of the posts here I've decided to try out a few more blades and ordered sample packs for:
  • Gillette Silver Blue
  • Perma Sharp Super
  • Voskhod
Also ordered 100 pack of Polsilver S.I blades and some Lather & Wood Sandalwood After-Shave balm.

Now just have to wait.

You are right of course. I'd rather have a slow hand made brush than a fast mass produced one. That said, one thing (amongst many) I like about Paladin, they don't make promises they cannot keep. Look at Brad Sears, no promises, just a rough time frame and emails when that time frame is to be delayed. No problem there. I am a man of my word and I expect others to be too so when I get told something will happen in a couple of days and weeks later it's not done I lose respect. Bernd could have said "Sorry for the delay, I am very busy and will get to it as soon as I can. Hopefully this week". Not, I will ship on Thursday.

Anyway, I've had my rant so it's last I will say on the subject.

Absolutely agree with you - broken promises are very disappointing!

Where
Got this Raku 'rock' shape soap dish coming for the impending Jabonman limited edition which at the moment is being described as a love child of Acqua di Gio and Issey Miyake

Where do you get this stuff! Lovely ...

[Where do you store it too - too nice to sit in a drawer?]

Hey @stillshunter - check this and the earlier one here out - What do you have in the post right now?

These are from different potters on Etsy. They go on my soap shelf in my bathroom so yes I suppose they are on display but only to me really.

There's some nice inexpensive things from artisan potters on Etsy, my fav espresso cup came from there, it sometimes makes an appearance in SOTD photos

@UKSteve

I don't know whether I like you or hate you. Pottery is one of my weaknesses, and the only excuse I had was that I can't find a practical excuse to grab some. Already have the plates and vases and platters. Now I got to grab one for each soap I have, this could get expensive [emoji29]

It's ok @Rami hate me and buy loads of pottery. Hang on, aren't you on some sort of shaving gear sabbatical? Grey area this...

I know, hence the question to the revered @Monsta_AU. Now which potter made this beauty?
