Pre-shave: Cetaphil Cleansing Bar
Razor: Merkur 34C
Blade: PSS (1)
Soap: Shaver Heaven Hot Rum
Brush: Omega 49
Post-shave: Proraso

Well talk about the dichotomies of shaving. Absolutely brilliant shave today, going back to the basics. About 3 days growth just to let the irritation settle down from last week, and went back to the HD with PSS blade. Certainly less efficient than the slant, but worth the result. I wasn't sure about the menthol in aftershave to start with tbh, but now I'm used to the proraso, I will reconsider some of the myrsol range (especially if they ever make it to our fine shores).

Mastro Livi Damascus "100 Layers", 13/16 Extra Full Hollow, Square Point

It was quite a long time I was not using this Mastro Livi "100 Layers" straight razor. It is an extra full hollow ground razor made of Mastro Livi carbon damascus and certainly one of the best singers I have in my collection. The blade is super thin, giving this razor a beautiful voice. Simply amazing how Mastro Livi can get such a very thin cutting edge and blade by just using his hands and grinding wheels. This razor has juniper scales and with its Mediterranean smell absolutely gives an exclusive touch to the shave. I also used my Mastro Livi "Pennello Italiano" (Italian Brush) a great silvertip badger brush absolutely super performing in mounting soap lather. The finishing touch has been given by Old Spice Original after shave, a classic fragrance with a lovely soothing and cooling effect on the skin.
  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: Tabac Shaving Soap
  • Brush: Mastro Livi Silvertip Badger "Pennello Italiano" - 24 mm knot

  • Strop: Mastro Livi Medium Loom Strop "Coramella Italiana" and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi Damascus "100 Layers", 13/16 Extra Full Hollow, Square Point
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block

  • After Shave: Old Spice Original

SOTD Monday, November 16

Cold water shave
Preshave: Bloom water
Soap: Shaver Heaven, Drogon Noir
Brush: Simpson Berkeley badger
Face lather
Razor: George Butler, Keen 6/8

Shaven Heaven soaps performing the equal or better of any big name soaps IMO. Great Aussie product and @Anthony is an easy vendor to deal with.

The George Butler if my favourite "horse in the stable" presently. Sharp as ... ... , glides smoothly over the face, etc. etc. Great blade.

20151116_074748 by Osman Mehmed, on Flickr
Preshave: Proraso Green
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89 with Windrose Handle
Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux
Brush: Vie Long Horse
Soap: Trumpers Lime
Post : Trumpers Lime Skin Food
Two pass shave with a clean up. Still had some Chiseled Face in the bowl so lathered it up added the Trumpers and 4 drops glycerin to produce an uber lather. Worked a treat. Tons of lather that was wonderfully luxurious.

No pictures of my shaving gear and don't hold your breath. They ain't coming.

Preshave: I slap my face awake to prepare itself for a shave.
Razor: Muhle 2011 R41 "BloodLetter"
Blade: Polsilver
Brush: Restored Boeckhs Boar
Soap: Proraso Menthol Original
Post : Wire brush and Dettol to catch any weepers. There were none but I used the wire brush and Dettol anyway. Because.

Up at 630, into the shower, Nivea "Cleen Deper" face scrub and that's all the prep I need.

A good shave, WTG and XTG and as smooth as possible. I'm well used to the razor now as it is my daily shaver. I've retired the Merkur Adjustable, haven't used it in over a year. R41 all the way baby.

I know what you're thinking. How could I possibly have shaved without some kind of deep inner "me time" navel gazing, connecting with my inner Zen god, flowing music notes as I lovingly cress my skin with the most obscure yet acceptable cream or soap I can name drop?

Well I ain't got time for that, ladies. I shaved, it was good, now I'm typing this to you as I sip on my second Gary Coleman of the day.

That's a short black to you, cupcake.

I'm sure it took you longer to type this than to shave... Always good to have you around @JugV2

Very nice brush. You seem to use yours much more than me so after this amount of use can you give you impressions please?

Steve
The brush came broken in to me. The tips are beautifully soft on the face but the brush has enough backbone to lather the hardest soaps. A joy to use.

Brush: Vie-Long Horsehair
Soap: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man
Razor: Eclipse Red Ring
Blade: Gillette Bleue Extra [4]
After-shave: Speick splash
After-shave balm: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man ASB

No pictures of my shaving gear sorry fellas - more artful stuff in the next few days I promise.

Brush: Smog 620
Lather: CRSW Savon #1
Razor: Viking (CV Heljestrand stainless)
Post: Alum, Thayers, Emulsion

Great being home. Things are where they are and should be.

Didn't quite adjust to the quarter hollow after exclusively using the zippiness of the Tennis (extra hollow) for almost two weeks. Went a little heavy under the chin and neck with the ATG pass. Oh well, nothing the post and some time won't see mended. Gotta say that post-shave regime is becoming my holy trinity. Might shed the rest.....yep, including my Myrsols (hey it's possible!).

where were ya?
Too busy with work I believe from what he's said earlier. He doesn't get to be the best Realator without dropping us slackers from time to time...

Welcome back!

What happened to the oil?
Which Thayers do you use - toner or straight up?

You're a fickle fella aren't you? [emoji12] Everything lasts no more than a year...
