Shave of the Day 2015

Actually I scored it very high both shave wise and photographically. In photography as in shaving there is a balance point that delivers a sense of harmony. It may be the length of the handle or the position of the scales. In @Draco Noir's shave image there is either an unconscious or chosen use of the Fibonacci or golden mean positioning of the crease in the fabric which provides a counter point to the shaving elements.

Steve

The balcony crowd is twitching.

Cold water shave
Preshave: Bloom water
Soap: Shaver Heaven, Dragon Noir
Brush: Edwin Jagger badger
Face lather
Razor: Inoue Fujisuke kamisori

Relaxed morning. Climb out of bed at 7:45, turn on the Rancilio, had a haircut, savoured two short blacks then into the shave den.

Even a quality Soap tends to dry out at the very end of a pass in Townsville during the dry weather. Temperature is warm but with no rain to speak of (we are on water restrictions) humidity is low and even good soaps dry quickly. By the time I get to the end of a pass I usually need to add a little water. When the humidity strikes (we have two seasons: hot and wet; hot and dry) that problem will be solved.

The Dragon Noir is a great scent. Has that aroma of timber furniture. Assisted the kamisori to slide across my face smoothly.

The kamisori is always a pleasure to use. Being a shorter blade it is easier to maneuver in those tight spots. Shave takes a little longer than a straight but always a pleasure to weild.

I doubt squeezed out tubes of cream or empty, tatty looking soap tubs would make good objects for photographic porn.
Precisely. And precisely why that little corner was cordoned off...for those non- artsy photo (aka the unwashed Waldorf & Stalter crowd) inclined. [emoji6]

Razor: Redtip
Brush: Vie Long Epslion horse hair fan
Soap: Shaver Heaven Mo'Vember by @Anthony (his charity soap for Movember)
Post: Myrsol Blue, sample from @filobiblic

Great shave today. Firstly I must say I really enjoyed the lemon scent of Shave Heaven Mo'Vember (I bloomed it well like you suggested Anthony). As @Monsta_AU said in his shave of the day we are lucky to have a great soap maker in Australia and extra lucky that he is regularly on the forum. As this is his charity soap I suggest if you haven't brought one already that you do :)

Secondly the brush: I don't use this brush anywhere near enough but that will change. It is a great lather maker brush and is soft now it is broken in. I wonder if their two band is as good? Maybe @alfredus can answer me that one.

Lastly thanks Phil for the aftershave sample, it is a great way to finish the shave and unfortunately another think I have to purchase :)

I think I'm going to vomit ... ;)

Pre-Shave: Occams pre-shave soap, cold water
Razor: Wolfman WR1-SB with WRH2
Blade: Ladas Super Stainless (2)
Brush: Stirling Kong
Lather: Mystic Waters Bergamot, Cedarwood & Juniper
Post-shave: Alum, Stirling Vetiver alcohol free Witch Hazel, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Very fun shave today - if you are in search for a brush that can lather enough supplies for a week - or you are some one who shaves his face, head and SWMBO (sorry - forgot the right P&C term, could the balcony please remind me) legs all at once - this is the right tool for you! @unobtainium81 compared to the offspring of a Plisson with an Omega Pro - somewhere in there must be a Chubby 5 as well though...

TONS - and I means tons and tons of luxurious lathers in brush, on my face, flying around the bathroom today - really felt like a kid having a lot of fun. Not sure, how the brush will fit in the rotation, but I am sure there will be more days to come, where I just want to paint the bathroom with lather :D

Another enjoyable straight razor shave and I'm pleased I can get a good 2 pass WTG and to some extent an XTG shave. ATG will be a while down the road for me but probably will happen eventually. Learning and controlling a naked blade is challenging but as muscle memory develops it all starts to fall into place.

No cuts, one nick and more enjoyment.

To @Draco Noir with Thanks

Pre-Shave
: Myrsol Emulsion
Razor: ATT S1 slant (on loan thanks Draco Noir )
Blade: Persona Med Prep
Brush: Shavemac Silvertip (on loan thanks Draco Noir )
Soap: Through The Fire Fine Craft Extinguish (thanks Draco Noir )
After-shave: Thayers Witch Hazel and Fine L'Orange Noir
Another shave with @Draco Noir 's ATT S1 after the cap replacement (see ATT Product and Service ) and it's made a huge difference. Clearly something was wrong with the previous cap. The new cap has transformed the razor into the shaving tool that many praise.

The Shavemac brush is a little ripper. Short loft, dense, nice backbone and super soft tips makes this a face lathering specialist.

Through The Fire Fine Craft soap is a new one for me. The Extinguish scent smells a lot like Raspberry lemonade or Creaming Soda. Combined with the Shavemac it produced a thick and creamy lather that performed really nicely.

HI (Her Indoors). Don't forget it.
It just sounds soo wrong, ie, I had to sneak my latest purchase past her indoors!

So...What's with the staged outdoor picture of your shaving gear?

Judging by the wanky pictures I've just been seeing, I'd have to have my brush posed in a hot air balloon, my razor riding a Ducati, the soap bungee jumping and a unicorn in the shot somehow too.
Just to compete.
It's just shaving.

I'd like to see that actually :P
Just for the unicorn, particularly if it's horn was used for the brush handle :P

Very nice today. I'd thought about getting rid of this soap but it smells really good like those cocktail cherries you get in a jar so it's staying. The huge chubby brush feels very luxurious on the face like a wall of badger.

IMHO it's just a bit of fun mate...and a distraction I appreciate looking at...and a great way of enabling others.
"It's just shaving",
...in the same vain...
"It's just driving"
"It's just eating"
"It's just fucking"
Welcome to commodification and capitalism mate.

Preshave: Proraso Red
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89 with a Windrose Handle
Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux
Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Chiseled Face Trade Winds(Thanks to @Draco Noir )
Post Shave: Soap Commander Courage Balm
Sunday shave of the day was a three pass shave. First use of the Chiseled with a small amount in the bowl and whipped into a healthy lather. Very pleasant scent and a good performing soap with perhaps my only hesitation in the post shave feel. A little drying. However, my face is BBS and the balm corrected that feeling. Personal note I enjoy all the photos as I like to see what everyone is using and I also enjoy the imagination and effort that goes into some of the pictures. I certainly can't bring my photos to that level but that is my failing. Just enjoy. Have a great Sunday.

Because I can :D
And if it gets the balcony even more outraged - tomorrow's will be even more wanky :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Seriously though - sorry to say that: for me it's not just shaving. It's the time of the day I truly have to myself, I can reflect and be mindfull. If you want to get everything done in 5 min and be out of the door - your choice. I usually haven't finished the lather in 5 min....YMMV
