Shave of the Day - 2024

SOTD Wednesday 19 June

  • Razor Gillette British Rocket FlareTip
  • Blade Treet 7 Days Platinum
  • Pre-Shave Pears soap
  • Brush Vulfix Pure badger
  • Cream Nivea Sensitive Pro Cream
  • Post Shave Nivea Sensitive Pro Moisturizer
  • Aftershave Brut Splash
  • Balm Nivea – Sensitive Balm

The Morning Shave.

An opportunity to use a different blade from a recent PIF

The Blades come double wrapped, a clear wrapper inside the outer envelope wrapper.

This blade was not a sharp as the 7am. No nicks / weepers. Very comfortable shave.

Plenty of blade feel – DFS.

Nivea is a very good value brand. This set cost $5 Aus for both (Shaving cream & balm moisturizer)

Scent is quite faint and clean.

I hate the smell of Nivea :yuck: crap.

Pre-shave:- Cool Shower
Bowl/Scuttle:- Captain's Choice
Brush:- Semogue 2016 Foro Afeitado Limited Edition Finest Badger 25/50mm knot
Soap/Cream:- Noble Otter ~ Queen
Razor/Blade:- Gillette Ball End Tech (Gold) 1946-50 made in US / Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellow Sharp Edge #11
Post/After-shave:- T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent mixed into the 240ml bottle with Invite E High Potency Pure Oil (10 drops), Natural Plant Glycerine (20) & Tea Tree Oil Antiseptic (5)
Moisturising Cream:- Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Fragrance-Free (for autumn & winter season)
Fragrance:- Tabac EDT

The scent is a little like soap, so not to everyone’s taste.
The product is good quality though.
The aftershave balm I use is the unscented. Nice cooling sensation.
I like nivea balm but after shaving I feel the sting over my skin. And it is completely different than aftershave sting. After using aftershave the sting is strong but last very short time but after nivea balm I feel that for hrs. I think I might be alergic to some of the ingredients.
So I use it the next morning as a moisturiser and like it👍🏻 but not planning to buy the next one.

Aussie Soap: SaltLake Soaps - Amalfi Coast, scent described as: “Encapsulating the feel of coastal roads and ocean views an invigorating blend of wild freesia fresh lime and lavender. Top Notes: Lime Lemon; Middle Notes: Wild Freesia, Lavender; Base Notes: Amber, Sandalwood”. Unfortunately SaltLake soaps closed up shop earlier this year.
Razor: The Gillette Sterling is a low priced Tech style razor made in India that I picked up for AU$11 from ebay.
Shave Result: The modern Tech style razor shaved similar to my 1972 vintage Tech, just a bit milder and produced an efficient, smooth, clean DFS.
