Mastro Livi CarboInox KamiRazor

What a smooth shave! Yesterday I went to Mastro Livi's workshop and he made this magnificent straight razor for me of which I am very proud of. It is made of CarboInox - the artisan damascus steel Mastro Livi conceived by using both carbon and martensitic stainless steel - and for which I conceived the name: KamiRazor. It basically is a kamisori blade to which has been mounted "western style" scales in order to protect the edge and make it safer to handle when closed. This is the third name I suggested Mastro Livi for his works - Grifetto, CarboInox and now KamiRazor - and I am very proud of this. This KamiRazor has abalone scales with coral and white mother of pearl inserts having the color of Perugia, my beloved city where I was born. As for the rest, my shaving soap proved to be, once again, a super performing soap, absolutely velvety and giving a super luxurious lather. Superb top notch shave!

Razor: Weber Polished Head on Bulldog Handle
Blade: Vintage Schick Super Platinum (2)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Martin de Candre Shaving SOap
Aftershave: Myrsol Formula C

Oh what a great way to start the day. Lovely shave although the MdC doesn't have the residual glide that some other soaps have.

Gillette Slim
Vokshod
Simpson Duke 3 Best
Saponificio Verasino Cosmo

A wonderful shave to start the week.

Lately I've been messing around trying to get the perfect lather with all my soaps & brushes. All this ended up with were a few crap shaves & feeling like I'd gone backwards in competency.

This weekend I decided to not stuff around & just shave. Happy to report that by just going with the flow I've had some of my best shaves in recent memory.

Gotta remember the KISS method sometimes [emoji12]

Final London bridge blade shave this morning. I mean it this time, I took the blade out of the razor and put it in the blade bank at the back of the pack.
Easily 20 shaves, still not sure if it was starting to get a little rough or it was my imagination on the first pass as the 2nd and 3rd were as smooth as you like.
Maybe it's time to switch over to the Fatboy now too. The slim has had a good few months run.

Last night's shave - Synth Sunday

Pre:
GFT Lime Skin Food
Brush: Wolfwhiskers Ubersoft II
Soap: Eufros Jabonman Vetiver Haiti
Razor: Standard
Blade: PSI
Post: alum, witch hazel, Eufros Jabonman Vetiver Haiti

I started off with the wet method with the Jabonman. Initially, it looked not very promising. Very foamy and lots of big bubbles. Poured out some of the water gathered on the puck and continue swirling and keeping at it. Familiar gloss begins to reappear after a while and the lather thickens up but not too thick. Lather shots here. I find that this method, consistently gives me very slick lather and the shave was so comfortable. It doesn't look porcelain-like like @alfredus my Uber Sifu Lathermeister's lather, but it's very comfortable lather. Heaps of slickness and the post shave felt so good.

I am really digging the synth, it's easily one of my top brushes. The brush was very well made, great balance and it is easily one of my best looking brush. I really do enjoy using the brush and I am glad I made this purchase. Maybe I'll get another.....(SBAD speaking)

Post shave was so good, and it's even better when I put on the ASB. This ASB is definitely my favourite balm. I think I've said it more than once before that this is indeed my favourite balm. Great shave achieved and I shall further experiment with more soaps using the wet method.

Brush: Semogue Mistura
Soap/Cream:
Barrister & Mann Vetiver Santal
Razor:
Gillette NEW Long Comb
Blade: Feather
Aftershave: Thayers & Captain's Choice Sandalwood

Plans for my early morning bike commute to the office were disrupted, thanks to the rain, but it meant that I didn't have the rush to meet my riding partner. It's so nice to have the luxury of time to enjoy the shave.

The Gillette NEW and Feather combination have been my go to for the past 2 weeks. Really loving the smooth and close shaves that this partnership brings. Once a blade that cut me to pieces, it is now one that I reach for a lot. Amazing what a couple of years of experience can do

Razor: Merkur Progress
Blade: Personna Med Prep

Lovely three pass shave. This razor used to cut me to pieces and now it is a comfortable, easy shaver. Amazing what a year of experience can do. Look forward to the next year of experience.

This mornings shave.
Pre: Nothing
Brush: Saville Row
Soap: Razorock Son of Zeus
Razor: Muhle R89
Blade: Polsilver
Post: Proraso white balm and DR Harris Arlington

Good shave this morning. Used the Son of Zeus for the first time. Light on the scent but the performance was amazing, this soap is a lather bomb, i could wave the brush over the top of the soap and still get a lather. Two passes with touch ups, will sit nicely in the rotation. I suspect this formula might be for sensitive skin, or an earlier formula (white tub). I have put a post in Soaps to see if anyone knows the difference between the Razorock white and black tubs. Either way a fantastic close, and irritation free shave.

Interesting blade design. The twist doesn't get in the way on a low angle WTG pass?

Pre: Nil
Brush: Chubby 2 Best
Soap: Shaver Heaven - Dragon Noir
Blade: Hosi Tombo 3000
Strop: Kanoyama #30'000
Post: Thayers WH & PAA - Malbolge

After yesterdays shave, first off the hone I was looking forward to today as the second one is always smoother due, I think to the extra stropping. (Yes, it has occurred to me to strop more before the first shave but this way I can feel my stropping improving the edge). Yesterdays was excellent and yes, as suspected the blade is that much smoother and a little keener today. I love it when a plan comes together! Another top 10 shave; three pass, no clean up required, BBS. Dragon Noir tub will be done with this week... the soap is now just a doughnut around the edges which I suppose will fade slower than the centre did but still on a mission to finish this tub - I'M GOING TO FINISH A SOAP!!!

Face Wash : Musgo Real Lime Glycerine soap
Pre-Shave : Proraso Green Pre-shave
Brush : Shavemac custom
Soap : Meissner Tremonia Dark Limes
Razor : Gloria "Smiling Razor"
After Shave : Alum, Top Seven Balm, Davidoff Cool Water

Another wonderful shave today. Meissner Tremonia's Dark Limes soap is an absolute pleasure to use, and the wonderful little Shavemac brush certainly did it justice. I think Meissner Tremonia is up there with the very best : very appealing fragrances and a superior quality lather.

The Gloria smiling razor is a firm favourite. The curved blade is brilliant at getting into the difficult spots, and it always delivers a very close, very comfortable shave. Today was no exception - two passes saw me almost 100% BBS

The usual post-shave lotions and potions finished things off nicely, with the Davidoff Cool Water providing a pretty classy fragrance to get me through the day.

Happy shaves to everyone :)

@Sxot - how would you describe the PAA Malbolge?

Cold water shave
Brush: Edwin Jagger Badger
Soap: Shaver Heaven Sensuous Sandlewood
Face lather
Blade: Dovo 5/8 Inox with Pearlex scales

On Saturday morning I put this blade over the 1,000, 3,000, 8,000 hone progression for a refresh. Blade was sharp and smooth, just that after giving my 6/8's a run recently I find the 5/8 blades tend to "fill up" with lather too quick and need rinsing too often. It's only an 1/8" inch I hear you thinking but it does make a difference. IMO the extra mass of the 6/8 improves the feel in the hand and the ease which the blade slices through whiskers. I will grab a 7/8 or larger sooner rather than later I figure.

The Sensuous Sandlewood is an interesting scent IMO. Not you standard sandlewood scent but a "sweet" edge to it. Not sickeningly so but "rich and deep" if that is a scent.

Pre: GFT lime skin food
Brush: Epsilon 26mm Brown horse
Soap: P&B Spitfire
Razor: iKon B1 Slant
Blade: PSI
Post: alum, witch hazel, Myrsol Plastic Shave

Couldn't resist the scent of spitfire, chosen it for my shave tonight. Lathered up using the wet method which I have been experimenting lately. I achieved a very wet and moist lather. To the point that it's really drippy. This soap could take up so much water. Lather Shots. The lather generated really isn't much of a beauty, but it performs like a beast. So much glide, protection and slickness it's pretty amazing. The lather was extraordinary comfortable. I used to fear the slant, but this slant tonight while paired with the PSI, gave me such a close two pass and touch up shave, that I couldn't believe it. Soap is definitely right up there on the top shelf alongside many big game players.

Needless to say, the shave was nothing short of amazing. Irritation free BBS achieved.

@filobiblic reminded me that we will always keep learning and getting better. Happy shaving every one.

Hope you all had a better Monday than me - but the shave was fantastic and so was the drippy lather.

Really getting into the Weber again - even ordered a new handle for it yesterday at 11:30 pm Adelaide time - any guesses what it could be :D :D :D

@silver I'm lost what's the little wooden spoon for? I'm guessing is the amount water you need to create your lather that way you don't over use too much water.
