You Guys from the land down under are 9 hours in front of the UK so that means you are the first to get my SOTD for Sunday, here's a little note, we in the UK are experiencing one of the hottest summers on record far too hot for me hitting 30+ for the last two weeks 37% humidity far too hot for me, If I could order up nice weather it would be 20c overcast and dry anything above that and I'm dead, I function much better during the Autumn and Winter I guess I'm a true Nothern European Celt.

Walking along the esplanade in Coolangatta yesterday, middle of winter with people out BBQ'n and walking on the beach with shorts and t-shirts (in 22c weather). I think we take it for granted how good we have it sometimes over here.

There’s a little bit of sun out so wanted to try the Stirling Glacial soap for the first time. Not the best idea at 6am before work so I’d treat myself today. It was pretty good and not overpoweringly cold - just made the eyes water a little. Perhaps will keep for summer or when hungover!

The new Voskhod blade and Rockwell with the 5 plate ate through 2 days beard growth with ease. Very happy overall.

Date: 08 July 2018

Pre-shave:- Cold Water straight from the tap
Brush:- RazoRock Plissoft Synth. 24/57mm knot
Soap/Cream:- Declaration Grooming ~ Bandwagon
Razor/Blade:- Merkur 38C / Rapira Super Stainless #2
Post-shave:- Thayers Witch Hazel & Tea Tree Oil / Lucky Tiger Aftershave & Face Tonic / Lucky Tiger Face Moisturizer
Fragrance:- N/A

I'm really impressed with Declaration Grooming shaving soaps because is way above Wholly Kaw lather and slickness performance, however, the post shave feel is still below the Wholly Kaw performance. I'm glad to have all 13 Declaration Grooming shaving soaps in my den, I'm looking forward to getting some more DG from the Stray Whisker very soon until the next new scent is available on the market.

Woah. I mean, one would think that living in Canberra is surely enough of a punishment on its own. ;)

Ummm. you have looked at the banners under my profile pic?

As a site moderator I can make your life here miserable - you have been warned ;)

Lots of love from the People's Republic of Canberra!

EDIT - I notice too that you LIKED that comment @fruityasu - you are on notice too!

I have a sudden premonition of you breaking in in the middle of the night and replacing my shaving gear with a Mach 3 and some Gillette foam...

Pre: Warm water, Proraso Green
Razor: Gillette Slim (5)
Blade: Astra Green (3)
Bowl: Handmade bowl, Mk1
Brush: RazoRock Silvertip Synthetic
Soap: Fine Snake bite
Post: Witch Hazel

Another excellent shave with the Slim. Two passes and touch up =BBS.

I had an excellent day today catching up with a new Adelaide member @Jimi to share some honing information.

A truly wonderful Theiss Issard 6/8" with a very decorative spine and a classy Dovo 6/8" [both so pristine and new you actually took care with the honing :) ] .... then there was my type of razor :) the unloved, the mistreated 100 year old Bengall Ebay special. We started on that and set a bevel - possibly the first real one in a long time. @Jimi has a beautiful set of hones and they created the most wicked insanely sharp edges.

I ran my Tanifuji 6/8 over his hones for tonight's shave and it was without a doubt the sharpest blade I have ever honed. My inexperience with his hone meant I probably spent too long on the 12k as it was at the scalpel sharp translucent Arkansas level. Shaving below the skin without drawing blood. Extremely close shave but a bit of irritation. I think a full hone on 12k with about 5-10 light laps on the Coticule will be the ultimate in smooth.

Next time :)

Steve

I feel the same way about our summers sometimes (I think I operate better in the cooler temp) but the temperature differential is 10 degrees C. We pray for 30 degree days when the temperature gets up above 40 degrees C and some places I go to for work in western NSW get up to 50 degrees C. Thinking of you guys. :)
Nice Tanifuji.
