Pre: hot shower
Brush: Razorock Big Bruce
Soap: AP Reserve Skye Fall
Razor: Rockwell 6s (2)
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Aftershave: Proraso green splash

No work today as I had an appointment about my wisdom teeth. Turns out they are all getting removed early September.

Went with a known shave soap today that has performed perfectly every time I’ve used it and my Big Bruce brush. Used my bowl for the first time with the soap to get the lather right. It lathered well and couldn’t find any real benefit in face lathering where there’s extra time spent working the lather into my face. The bowl is quite awkward though. Very high and can’t hold it easily on a good angle that’s comfortable to swirl.

No blood today other than some pimples that came out in force a few days after using the American Crew oil! That can be placed in the back of the cupboard for a long while.

In all I was happy with today’s shave and will repeat with same kit tomorrow morning.

Semogue Boar, Proraso Red, Parker 34R, Polsilver, Witch Hazel, Viet Cheap'n'Smelly, Oud Attar
After watching the video on getting a shiny lather posted yesterday,I tried something very similar with face lathering. Awesome result and spending more time loading then working the face left a lovely slick and shiny full lather. This also helped for an enjoyable shave for two smooth passes. It will be interesting to se how the MWF will go with this method for next shave.

I think we have a new champion for SOTD pics... stunning mate

I'm very pleased you enjoy looking at my photo's as much as I enjoy looking at everyone else's shots, lets be honest we all are grateful for the real unbias knowledge and information available and given up through our own personal experience, but where would a shaving forum be without it's SOTD, we all enjoy looking at SOTD photo's there's a hell of a lot of good photographers hang out in shaving forums.:)

Pre: Warm water, Crew oil
Razor: Karve C
Blade: Feather
Bowl: Handmade bowl, Mk1
Brush: RazoRock Silvertip Synthetic
Soap: Mike's Barber Shop
Post: Witch Hazel, Proraso Green Balm
Very smooth comfortable shave.

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: M&F / Brad Forbes Finest Badger
Soap: Haslinger Honig (tallow)
Razor: Merkur Futur (2)
Blade: Vintage NOS Personna Super Platinum Chrome (2)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel / Myrsol Emulsion
Scent: APR Ozymandias

A glorious lather was whipped up by the M&F brush, enhanced by the warm, comforting scent from the Haslinger soap.
I have shaved with most of the big hitters of the vintage blade club, and I must say that the Personna Super Platinum Chrome is up there with the very best. From my research, I conclude that this blade is the last of the P74 line. From my shaving experience, it may also be the pinnacle of that line. Three stellar passes, and a few buffs courtesy of the excellent residual slickness of the soap, and I am BBS and grinning :D. Awesome post-shave.
The beautifully soft yet persistent notes of musk and oud in the APR Ozymandias EDP were a nice match for the comforting honey scent of the soap.

I'm a head shaver, have been for many years. When I started with the DE I was terrified of doing my head and the results matched. Loads of stubble left behind, irritation and cuts galore. Its a lot better now...and whilst I'm not professing this to be the holy grail of head shaving, it works for me. First issue was angle. Because the razor was upside down on the back of my head it was difficult to get it right. I just played about moving the handle further out from my head whilst holding the head of the razor against my skin. I eventually found a sweet spot that seemed to give a really good result. Second step was 'feel'....I now shave my head two handed. One operating the razor, and my other just feeling behind/in front of the blade after each stroke to feel for stubble etc. This helps to me get DFS/BBS with one pass (ATG) and a little bit of tidying up. It's not fool proof (even to a sufficiently talented fool such as I) and I still sometimes find a bit that I've missed, but its the method that gets me the best results.
Thanks for the helpful suggestions @no47. Practice makes perfect so I'll try your method and share my thoughts in coming SOTD (y)

Excellent face lather with my favourite soap which performs extremely well and smells like heaven!
Third use of the GSB with the R2 plate.
I’ve nearly always shaved my jaw line by pulling the “bullfrog” pose with chin to chest, but realised today it can also be done to shave under my chin itself going across the grain. No cuts either which is a plus!

Okay, time to admit that after all these years I haven't been doing it right.

After reading yesterday's SOTD thread on how other members create their lathers I decided to up my game. I think that it was @alfredus who said that he will build his for up to 5 minutes and @todras that you must use the tips to stop air getting in. In the past I have been too impatient and have definitely settled on a lather that was big in volume, but had many air bubbles. So this morning I took my time. I did about a 40 second load on the soap, and then really slowly and gently built the lather in a smooth bowl. After about a minute I added about 1/2 tsp of water and then continued to build. After about 3 minutes it was seriously thick and shiny so I added a bit more water and then kept going. The result; a rich creamy lather that was without a doubt the best I have ever made, it was very satisfying.

Now my skills with a camera are not up to @Jamie standards, and it doesn't seem to shine like others, but it was very shiny and here's the lather shot

Happy hump day.

Had razor burn from the slim yesterday so back to old reliable for a top quality shave this morning.i think I've found my problem with the slim.for me it is too light and overly aggressive for the efficiency level.this leads me to use a more aggressive setting to get a close shave but the lack of weight leads me to add more pressure and the lack of efficiency leads me to doing more passes than necessary to avoid looking unshaven at the end.i can get a good shave with the fatboy easily so it annoys me the slim just doesn't want to perform.i wiill go back to it for the rest of the week but more than likely will move it on to someone who will actually enjoy using it.shaving should enjoyable me time and not be hard work.
