Progress XL w/Polsilver
TurnNshave angel hair
LPL herbal
Anherb balm

Loaded up a fresh polsi in the long handle progress and had a fantastic shave!

The XL version has the most perfect balance of any razor I've ever had!

LPL performed great and I really enjoyed the fresh herbal scent!

Pre: Myrsol Emulsion
razor: Weber/UFO
blade: Astra Green #1
brush: Semogue 2000 boar
soap: Wolfpack "Italian Orchard"
splash: Black Ship Thomas Tew
balm: TSW

I have not used this soap for months as it wasn't giving me the feeling I want on a shave. So, in order to test a bit other products (in this instance, Myrsol emulsion), I went for it, also with the idea of updating (and translating) my review of it. Today It gave me its best shave experience. Still, not the best gliding, but at the end, my skin was much better feeling, certainly not as dry as in the past, so i reckon it was because of the use of Myrsol emulsion. The splash didn't bite either, and now i smell like an orange xD.

Razor: iKon B2 OC
Blade: Wilkinson Sword (4)
Brush: TSW 452 24"
Soap/Cream: MWF
Post: Alum, fancy magic, and APR Coolabah

Decided to use MWF since it barely gets a look-in.

It definitely has a slickness to it. Probably more than any other soap I've seen.
But, I don't think I lathered it well enough. I usually scrape what I need out of the tub and then lather in my bowl. But, that doesn't work with MWF; it's too hard a soap.

Anyway, I lathered what I could (not well) and ended up with a close shave.
But, I had a lot of irritation.

My thoughts:
- I should probably let the puck rest in water to soften it before each shave.
- Could I be having a reaction to the lanolin? Is that a thing?
- I suspect I'll just give-up on it. I have other excellent soaps that are so easy to use. If I can't get a good shave out of this soon, I'll move it on.
- I really wish I knew what what causing the predictive text issues on this forum. It doesn't happen anywhere else. Really frustrating.

Adding a few drops of water to the top might be enough. I've got gratings of MWF that I didn't have trouble lathering, so grating a bit to lather might also help.

Regarding the lanolin allergy I would say to either get it properly tested or work out which soaps you get a reaction to and see if they have similar ingredients.
Had a quick look at some of my soaps and the ones I checked all had it as an ingredient. APR, B&M, WK and Stirling.

If you still have issues with MWF I'll consider getting it off you.

Razor: Vintage Gillette British NEW head on a Weber classic handle
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (4)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Australian Private Reserve (APR) les généraux du grand livre shaving soap
Aftershave: Australian Private Reserve (APR) les généraux du grand livre splash
Fragrance: Australian Private Reserve (APR) les généraux du grand livre EDP

Doggedly persistent or just bloody minded and stubborn?

I WILL get this soap finished ...

9th April 2018

Preshave - Warm shower
Brush - Razorock Big Bruce
Soap - Australian Private Reserve Lixiviant sample from TSW
Razor - Merkur 37C slant
Blade - Voshkod (3)
Aftershave - My trusty Proraso Green splash.

Not a bad shave today but wasn’t concentrating enough and the blade bit me twice. There’s always tomorrow I guess (hopefully)!

From last night:

Brush:
Omega Boar
Soap/Cream: MWF
Razor: FaTip Grande
Blade: Polsilver SI (1)
Post-shave: Alum, Emu Oil, Myrsol Formula "C"

A better shave this time around.
This is a very efficient razor. it requires high amounts of concentration.
It also felt better with the polsilver blade. Maybe I was paying more attention because I knew the blade was sharper.
Anyway, no real burn this time around and no blood either.
I think this razor would definitely suit multiple days growth or a heavy beard.

Take 2

Well after thinking of a couple of tips from @SpeedyPC, dialed down to 1 Half put a Vodskod in it and went for it. An ok shave no nicks / cuts this time around but for all the drama of setting it up my FB or Twist would have given me as good a shave. Will give it a further go though.

Nice early shave in prep for the long haul home. Gippsland to Dubbo is longest single day run I've done. Glad to be home. Beautiful trip up through Snowy River Country.
@Arnold J Rimmer - Checked out another antique store at Nimmitabel. Nothing.

Nice combo this morning for an easy DFS. The Green Mac performs well and is easy to lather and control with additions of water.

A fantastic BBS. Never got much joy out of this cream before but today I just "used more product" - quite a lot actually, with good results. Can't see myself buying more though, given the amount I have to use to get there.

@lerenau - when I use my MWF puck in the same way as a shave stick, I get a result that is better than any other soap I have tried, particularly in the post shave department. Could be worth a try...

Brush: RR 400
Razor: Merkur 37C
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (4)
Scuttle/Bowl/Mug: Fine Lather bowl
Pre: Shower
Soap: Grooming Dept.'s DiA
Post: Witch Hazel & Tea Tree Oil & Barber Shoppe balm

A quick 3 pass DFS with the slant razor. First impressions of the soap are that it's not as thirsty as I had anticipated - need to ring my wet brush out prior to loading  Slick lather but not as creamy as I would like. Although DiA wasn't my original choice I'm glad I made the swap as the scent profile of this soap is devine :shame: Very well blalanced and none of the spices are over powering which makes for an enjoyable shave. Even managed an XTG pass with a slant which is a rarity but the slickness of the soap allowed for that. Have a great week and happy shaves!

pre shave: shiner gold shave soap
lather: St James of London Lavender and Geranium
razor: ATT bamboo handle, Windsor SS cap and Copper R base plate
brush: Sam and Son 22 mm silvertip
post shave: St James of London

Was in a rush this morning, had to get the kids to various school holiday activities, so only time for a couple of passes. The base plate seemed to drag slightly this morning so only a socially acceptable shave. I like the cream, but am underwhelmed by the post shave balm.

Ah yes! Now I remember someone mentioned this quite some time ago. I will give it a try on my next shave. (y)

I will need to wait a few days, though... I didn't get enough cushion from yesterday's shave and now I look like Norman Gunston.
