Had a top shave tonight with a feisty little Russian 6/8", a Spanish blonde Semogue 2000 and a soap that is going to be my constant recipe I make.
Hope everyone is enjoying their shaving as much as I am
Brush: Yaqi 30mm Razor: Timeless Bronze SB Blade: Astra Blue (5) Bowl: Pereira's Unbreakable Shaving Bowl Pre: Warm water Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat Post: Plunkett's Aloe Vera Gel
I was sorting through my den and noticed a long neglected puck of MWF that I had yet to open I decided to give it a try and my first impressions are quite positive. The 30mm synth easily lathered up luscious lather with minimum effort. The soap is on the thirsty side but with a wet brush, elbow grease and trusty lather bowl, I whipped up enough lather for 2 days worth of shaves. The scent is pleasant and performance wise it works very well. I'm yet to notice any after effects with post shave feel on par with the big boys. The only let down on an otherwise near BBS was the Astra feeling slightly dull but the Bronze shaved smoothly with no irritation. A very satisfactory & efficient shave with one of my favourite razors Finished off with some Aloe on the head/face as I'm still nursing slight sunburn... Happy shaves!
With many thanks to @todras for the opportunity, today I got to lather up with the latest Declaration Grooming Milksteak unscented soap base.
A small amount smeared into my lather bowl and away I went. Razor was the Karve SS with a D plate. Second day running this plate.
Some thoughts:
Texture of soap is soft, but not close to a cream (which is consider Murphy and McNeil in the v1 form). Easily formed to the shape of the lather bowl and not tacky on the fingers. Probably similar to previous DG bases
Soap seemed somewhat thirsty. I added water sparingly but kept going until I got the sheen I enjoy. Easy as anything to lather
Slickness and cushion of the blade were very good indeed. Residual slickness was very nice to have and probably the best in this respect of my current soaps
Post shave my face certainly felt soft and subtle. For sure, one could get away with no post shave routine, but hey, that’s not my scene!
The only downside in using this particular sample for myself was the lacking of a scent. Let me rephrase. There was a scent. It was game meat. I cannot recall ever using an unscented soap before. I enjoy my scented soaps way too much to ever chase after something unscented. This is not a knock on the soap at all. Simply my opinion that this unscented soap does have some animalistic smell about it. It’s not offensive, but it was there. Perhaps it’s less obvious than Scott’s other bases which I believe is why he improved on Icarus
Shave was finished up with some Noble Otter Thè Noir et Vanille splash.
I've been wanting to try this soap for a while and I am so glad that I bought it. I absolutely love the scent and it takes me back to being a small boy buying aniseed balls

Lovely comforting lather from the tallow Haslinger Honig. Dialed in the angle a little better second time out with the AS-D2; three passes and a few touch ups for a BBS result.
Finished off with Caron's terrific fougère fragrance - Le 3' Homme.
Pre: Coconut Oil Soap: Pb Calendula Chamomile MkII
Brush: 26mm TF KBBB
AS: Barrister's Reserve Spice
A very soothing shave with the Calendula Chamomile. The lather initially forms into a plastic emulsion and takes a lot of water and lathering but produces a very creamy luxurious lather. Needed some calming after a $500 specialists bill (30 minute consult) yesterday, dearest prescription I've ever had.
