In gratitude to a well known and generous member of these forums who paid it forward and sold me this non-pretentious razor (and a Blackbird) in the same bundle.

Razors are meant to be used.

Whilst the Timeless 0.95 SB (titanium) in the background is my daily shaver, I thought today was a good day to take out the Guerilla. After all, I wasn't going to win the WR1 in the auction. My CFO (read wife) told me she totally supported charity auctions but vetoed my budget at price she saw on the computer.

Pre-shave: Shower ; Shaving oil (trying to empty the bottle from Shavershop) and Prosaro.
Badger Brush: From the 2019 charity auction. Tony Forsythe Badger (what happened to the charity auction badges)
Soap: APR FT. Have to support the guy who sold me the Guerilla right?
Razor & Blade: Guerilla and Astra. My preferred blade for it's extra thickness over Feather. And a heck of a lot more forgiving.

As the 2nd picture shows: used to the Timeless being perfect with it's razor holding, I wasn't paying attention and screwed the plate holding the Astra crooked. And did a whole half face with it. Just to show that light pressure and technique saved me from further injury. Had this been a feather blade ... The second picture shows how off the angle was! Nice and aggressive with plenty of blade feel!

Second pass done right ... beautifully smooth and forgiving, yet efficient. It reminds me of a better engineered Rockwell. Whilst not as close as the Timeless or Blackbird, you could and should use this every day.

On another note, I've forgotten the provenance of the knurled handle. If anybody identifies it ... let me know. It's meticulously crafted.

@Pbgoose
How do you like the Vector Razor?
I love it. I wouldn't say it blitzs all the other SE's but it certainly brings a very strong game. Efficient without being too aggressive, dextrous, intuitive (though I did have an initial learning curve) and looks the goods. Hearing initial reports prior to purchase it sounded like it would be on the mild side so I assumed I would be using Feather Pro Supers in it but I find Kai Captain Mild blades work very well. The Colonial General and the Vector are currently my top two AC blade type razors.
I have not heard of anyone reporting problems with the flat sided threaded post on the Vector but only time will tell how that will serve long term. I feel it needs to be looked after from that respect but that design also facilitated the compact head which makes it unique as an SE AC razor, so worth it.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the Charity Auction, what a great result! Unfortunately, I missed out (hard budget times in VIC at the moment), but I've never been so glad to be beaten and pleased that it raised more money for a great cause.

Pre-shave: Hot shower / hot towel / Floid 'Ultralubricante' Oil
Brush:
Simpson Chubby 1 Super (23mm/50mm)
Soap/Cream: Pannacrema Lavandotto
Razor/Blade:- GEM Featherweight / Personna GEM 'Ted Pella' SE
Post/After-shave: Floid Amber

First shave with the new Chubby 1 in Super, and I was pleased to feel a decent difference in hair characteristics between Simpson Best and Super. This is pillowy soft, has very little backbone, and has absolutely zero scrubbiness or exfoliating feel. It is a 'luxury' feeling, and by way of contrast, the Best which is also quite soft does have a notably better backbone and firmness to the knot. The Chubby 1 is also a step up in size and density, which contributes to the 'feathery pillow' feeling on the face. The initial bloom of the Chubby 1 is also pretty great, it holds a heap of lather.

Two more GEM SE's to go after this one (Micromatic OC and Damaskeene to go). The Featherweight gave me the same quality of shave as the Clog Pruf I used last time, and with less neck irritation. The milder razor did allow me to get a smoother ATG result on my neck on the second pass, but I imagine that as I get a bit more accustomed to using SEs after a long absence then the technique will return and I can cut down to just one solid WTG pass. Damaskeene is up tomorrow.

Shout-out to the Floid, which was a gift from my parents trip to Italy. It's a great old-school scent and affirms that the SE technique is improving as I avoided the burning neck of prior attempts. The pre-shave was also a gift from a prior trip which had been sitting in the cupboard for a couple years. Yet to form an opinion in the role it played in this improved shave - I'll see if it helps when I try out the scary open-comb Micromatic on the final SE shave later this week.

Pre-shave: Hot shower
Brush: WCS Faux Horn Synthetic
Soap/Cream: WK La Fougere Parfait
Razor/Blade:- Razorock Gamechanger 0.84 / Astra Superior Platinum (3)
Post/After-shave: Brut AS Lotion / Stirling Ozark Mountain PS Balm

3 Pass + touchups BBS. These older batch of Astra SP seem to give some shaving mileage. Last one lasted 5 shaves before I retired it. It still had more to go.

Pre-shave: Hot shower
Brush: Frank Shaving silvertip
Bowl:- Rover collapsible lathering bowl
Soap/Cream: WK Jamestown Gentleman
Razor/Blade:- American Safety Razor Ever-Ready SE 'Model 1914' / Gem (2) SE
Post/After-shave: T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel/Pinaud Clubman musk

This little gem of a razor (well, maybe cousin of a Gem) handled a 2 day growth with aplomb; no fuss. It required a bit of buffing and still doesn't reach the efficiency of an Apollo/Blackbird but considering it's age I am amazed. Not sure of the provenance of the Gem blade (vintage or contemporary) but it is sharp and the amount of blade feel is just nice.
The WK is slick and smells great, the Rover bowl from Artisan Arcade makes whipping up lather a breeze, and I chalked up a near DFS for this one.
