Farewell Shave

Brush: Rooney 1/3 Super Silvertip Badger
Cream: Santa Maria Novella
Razor: Merkur Futur
Blade: Vintage NOS Gillette Swede (1)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel; Proraso Green Splash
Scent: Musgo Real Classic

On Friday evening, I lost my dearest friend, after a ten year battle with cancer. I was privileged to be holding his hand as he slipped away. We were inseparable since schoolboys.
He was a passionate wet shaver, but too shy to do much posting.

His Wife asked me if I could shave him on his final day; a great honour that I gladly accepted. Unfortunately, his birth razor was at his home. He had a two week growth, so I needed some blade gap.
The Futur was one of his favourite razors, so I packed it up with a selection of gear and headed to the hospital, where I shaved him, and stayed with him until the end.

Tonight, I reproduce the shave, as a tribute to my dear friend.

Rest easy, my Brother.

Sorry to hear about your loss!

I'm sure this shave set-up will forever be very special to you.

Pre-shave: Hot Shower
Brush: Razorock Plisoft
Soap/Cream: TOBS Coconut Luxury
Razor: Timeless 0.95
Blade: Astra Superior Stainless (4)
Post-shave: Nivea Men 2 phase PSL / Zingari Man ASB unscented

3 pass +Touch ups BBS. TOBS Coconut when dialled in, is equal to avocado which are the two best made of all the tobs creams. ( I have used them all including the new ones) YMMV.

Loving that brush and great to see the Charcoal Goods + original torpedo in brass! :love:

Still having trouble uploading images using external links
:unsure::unsure::unsure:

I would suggest creating an account at postimages.org, upload your image (preferably not too big, 640x480 is fine), with no expiry date. Once it's uploaded, you will be given (amongst other things) a "hotlink for forums" like:
Code:
[url=https://postimages.org/][img]https://i.postimg.cc/bJmBzHnY/IMG-2402.jpg[/img][/url]
Just copy this to your clipboard and paste it into your post, and you're done.

You actually only need this part of the code:
Code:
[img]https://i.postimg.cc/bJmBzHnY/IMG-2402.jpg[/img]

Which will result in this::

But if you don't want to create an account - there are many image hosting sites that are free and do not require log in - one such example would be https://imgur.com/

Basically any www address that ends in .jpg or .jpeg or .png or other picture format can be used by inserting it between this code:
Code:

Thanks @Razor Burn enabling points to you for the TF brush mate and I sincerely appreciate it.
Was a bit skeptical about the torpedo handle because it has the look of being conical tapering at the end but the knurled and ring sections are the same width. Glad I listened to fellow P&C advice :)(y)

Edit: plus I wasn't going to win the P&C 2019 LE Charcoal Goods ;)

So happy you're enjoying the new brush as its a real looker ;)

I'll admit I was envious seeing that you scored the CG Gen 1 Brass so there was no way I was letting the opportunity pass by and so happy as its a great shaver. I prefer the look of the earlier Torpedo but it's a tad too long for my preference... Happy shaves mate!

I've been looking at Coniferous as my next sample to try from Stirling, it might be my kind of thing. Some of the reviews have been a bit hit and miss: one that made me LOL likened it to "...a head shop that burnt way to much incense back in the day and is now permanently stuffy inside. Instead of a forest, when I use it, I'm transported to the gross old hippie head shop in Pacific Beach my aunt used to take me to." :ROFLMAO:

How do you feel about the scent? I see you at least bought a full tub...

Hi @Gargravarr it's a pleasant scent, one I am happy to keep in rotation but not one I would buy again, not sexy like the Stirling Man scents, I like the barbershop and bay rum scents myself. Reminds me of the original Norsca deodorant stick (soapy pine scent). I traded Simpsons Creams for the coniferous and then bought witch hazel and aloe aftershave and post shave balm prior to Artisan Arcade stocking Stirling. Since discovering APR Serum I am off the balms.

Willing to do a catch and release or trade if you have something of interest

Hmmm, that Norsca had its day (40 years ago), and doesn't improve on keeping, so I might pass on that one after all... :cool:

I like the principle of catch and release, but I've already done it to the point where there's nothing left that I don't want to keep. (O Joy!)

The Stirling balm didn't work out for me, so I gave it away mostly unused. I might try the APR serum when it comes back in, but in the meantime I'm putting my chemistry knowledge to work on my own balm. You might be seeing calls for alpha/beta testers at some point... :)
