Another great shave!

Lovely razor you are using there @Razor Burn

@Razor Burn just a small friendly question and let not go overboard about wax dots, okay.

Have the Gillette Silver Blue change from four pain in the butt down to two or four very small wax dots, because, I've still got the old four pain the butt. Could you please provide photo's if possible and post them into this topic (
Do you like wax dots on razorblades or not - tell us why) the reason I'm asking is I'm about to order 50 blades of GSB soon. Thank you.
I didn't have enough time to take a picture but will happily add some after work.

As stated in the other thread, I would prefer no wax as I have unsteady hands due to Essential Tremors and fiddling around with a DE blade can be a pain at the best of times. It also adds to cleaning but its not really a deal breaker as most of my favourite blades use wax. IMO blade tabs/over hang is worse!

First pass with the aggressive plate and then second pass with the mild plate. Whilst this was a good shave, for me, the razor is only so so.

Thank you for your honesty and opinions from yourself and others on the Smart Hellix Apollo. Whist a very beautiful looking razor, I realised it will not offer me the aggression / effciency for my shaving I require to make a purchase.

For me I find the Apollo the perfect daily shaver with great smoothness and the right amount of blade feel to let you know its there. Don't let the blade gap put you off as for me it shaves somewhere between the Game Changer .84P and Charcoal Goods Level 2 when paired with a range of blades.

Judging by the other razors in @Rabid Badger's rotation I sense he enjoys added blade feel and the next level of efficiency which I admit is lacking from the Apollo. Remember a razor doesn't have to be aggressive to be efficient as many factors come into play such as what blade is used, angle, geometry, balance, quality of lather, etc... If we all enjoyed the same razor then shaving would be boring + YMMV.

@Razor Burn you hit the nail on the head

The next level of effciency is exactly what I am after. That is why I ordered the Homelike Colibri over the Apollo. I dont want to be shaving every day. Every 2-3 days with a razor that's smooth, efficient, and next level is my liking.

Shave of the day is a great thread where I can evaluate peoples shaving habits and learn to improve mine.

I share your logic and as a daily shaver (due to work) I went the opposite route after much research and trialing, deciding on the Apollo with flipable plate as it provides me with a super close and comfortable shave every time!

Luckily I already own a few next level razors and my original choice was either the Homelike START or Taiga but in hindsight I believe I made the right choice.... Until 2021 when I hope to obtain a pretty Wolfman... :nailbiting:
