Hey @Hos , I saw that Oz Barber has the SV Felce Aromatica AS Balm. Can you tell me what the consistency is like. I've been after the AS for some time. Do you like it? I have the soap and enjoy it so would like to get the AS.

The consistency is somewhere between a lotion and balm , to me it feels more like a thick lotion. It's thinner than say Nivea aftershave Balm. The AS scent matches the soap very well. The soap itself has such a great post-shave feel that I'm not sure the aftershave really adds much to it. If you're after something to match the soap scent, their AS is the obvious choice, otherwise I'll give it a miss.

As an aside, I recently bought their Cubebe EDP and I absolutely love it. I think SV has only recently started to release fragrances, but they have nailed it. If they ever release a Felce EDP , I'll definitely buy.

Pre-shave: Hot water, Pears soap
Brush: Forgotten Art "Southern Skies" 30mm Snow Leopard
Soap/Cream: Blue DeVil - TAS Patchouli Patch
Razor: Blackland Vector
Blade: Kai PINK
Post-shave: Shower, Homebrew moisturiser, La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50+

OK @CraigE, I promise I'll stop teasing about the patchouli. ;) And in any case, this soap could smell like a dead rat and still give a fantastic shave. (y)

Pre-shave: Proraso white pre-shave cream
Brush: TF "Woodrot" with a Rhodium knot
Soap/Cream: Muhle Sea Buckthorn
Razor: Rockwell 6S
Blade: Wilkinson Sword Vintage
Post-shave: Old Spice (out of a plastic bottle now???? Really???)

First outing for me with the Rockwell 6S. Thought I would be a bit daring and ran all 3 passes with plate 3. Very nice BBS, no cuts, feels great without any sting.
Maybe run plate 4 tomorrow?.......... We'll see. I'm sure at some point on the ramp up we'll find the limit of my tolerance and skill level.
After my last SOTD post, @Tony Forsyth kindly informed me the Woodrot TF brush I'm using isn't fitted with just a regular 2 band knot, but that it is a Rhodium knot, which made me very happy indeed! Love it!!!

Steep angle as usual. I find the more efficient razors work best this way for myself. Still cannot shave today, hopefully tonight back to blade testing.

Now I kind of understand why all hype around wolfman razors. The reflection of the polish from the bathroom lighting is blinding, the balance and feel of the razor is amazing. Very happy with the solid WRH7 handle.:) Your SB 1.25 must be a fantastic shaver. Looking forward to my next wolfman in WR1 for next year's bday present.

the 1.25 is an excellent gap, plenty efficient and very smooth.. the efficiency is that good it’s a borderline daily shaver but incredible with 1 day+ growth

I’m thinking of a wr1 in a gap equivalent to a notch (or two) down from the WR2 1.25 for a daily or be tight and get the lupo 72

If you havnt already, try riding the cap with your R41.. trust me, it is a lot smoother than a steep angle

Just got my Rocca too. Can’t wait to try it out.

I’m a strat guy myself. E-series MIJ ST62, E-series MIK Squier, MIM Monterey Pop :giggle:

It’s an amazing razor, mid-aggressive and buttery smooth, especially with the right blade.. let me know what u think once u use it

You got some nice guitars, especially the MIJ, Japanese stats are quality

I recall watching the making of that brush and am amazed with how nicely it ended up. Its fitting that it got a Rhodium knot as its one special brush!
Seeing the 6S has brought back good memories as I fondly remember how smoothly R3 plate shaved but my favourite plate was R4 as it always delivered a smooth yet effortless DFS.

One Sunday Morning
  • Prep: Hot Shower
  • Prep: Phoenix Shaving - Cube 2.0 Unscented
  • Razor: Edwin Jagger - DE89
  • Blade: Feather (2 uses)
  • Brush: Stray Whisker - 452/24 Synthetic
  • Lather:Ariana & Evans - Kaizen
  • Post-Shave: Proraso - Alum Block
  • Fragrance: Phoenix Shaving - Clubguy (The Original)

I'm not normally a morning shaver, but with a lazy morning, a morning shave was deserved.

Took my time with building a lather from the Kaizen container, plenty of lather for a two pass head shave with some touch ups. I'm pretty sure I avoided any cuts or nicks across the dome. In the end, it was a pretty decent head shave, but the blade started showing signs of dullness.

Continuing on with the face shave, the lather was thin and soapy. I clearly didn't load up my brush with enough soap initially. Back to the tub to get some more soap to continue the face shave. Another lather was built, and another two pass shave for the face. Tried something different on my neck, wasn't a perfect success, but I've always had trouble with the neck area.

A quick tidy and clean up around the edges, and followed up with a splash of the original Clubguy.

I too have found that Kaizen dropped its game earlier than expected (loading from a sample and trying to stretch it), and have concluded that I need to simply do what I normally do when I've got a whole tub: load lots and lots, then load it some more. Nobody ever got a bad shave from having too much lather.

We've all seen those YouTube videos of people loading with just a few dainty swirls of the brush - don't believe them, that doesn't work. Load it like you mean it.

I wasn't trying to be stingy on the soap, clearly thought I had more on the brush than I actually did. I'll be sure to add a few more swirls next time I use Kaizen.

Pre-shave: Warm water.
Brush: Wahl Traditional Barbers Nylon
Soap: RazoRock Black Label
Razor: Rockwell 6C (4/3/2)
Blade: King C Gillette (3)
Post-shave: Alum Stick and QV Skin Lotion

Weird scented soap, I didn't fancy the smell at first but something really drew me in tonight and caused me to want to lather it up and smell it up close. Now I oddly quite like it, it's just different and that's nice haha.

On a different note, I'm worried I don't like the Rockwell 6C and wasted my sister's $$$ (it was a present). It just doesn't feel as smooth as the King C Gillette and a lot more tuggy (with the same blades). I think I don't like the fact more blade protudes from the top cap, makes it feel less solid and difficult to angle on non-flat surfaces like my chin/jawline. I'll keep giving it a shot and changing up my technique because it's likely my fault and will take some practice, but first thoughts are regretful!
