The first day of the rest of our lives... 🥂

Yeah best to make your way then man, understandably hard seeing you were there a while but hey take it easy.
Things will come right and as you say follow the right path for your own health, its not worth it otherwise.
I did the same thing, took me a while to get back into it all but best advice is take it slow, enjoy the time with your family and do whats best for you and the family and the rest will come in time, if you rush it you dont end up with what youre after and in the same situation again.

thanks man appreciate those words of wisdom

Razor: Muhle Rocca V4 R94
Blade: Gillette Red & White Stainless (31) - thanks @rhodes96
Blade: Gillette Minora Stainless (30) - thanks @rhodes96
Pre: Shower
Soap: AP Reserve Winterfall
Post: Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm // Sukin Hydration Biomarine Facial Serum
WTG, ATG, Touchups = DFS+

Well that was an experience and a half stretching both blades for a whole months shaving. I'll admit the best results were up to shave #15 as beyond that both blades began to lose their edge with somewhat patchy regrowth. What surprised me the most was the smoothness when paired with my beloved Rocca's but they still performed well with milder DEs when tested. After all the testing I rate the Red & White as more efficient and lasting better but there was a hairs difference between them and by far the best DE blades I've used to date. Thanks again @rhodes96 for the supply and generosity.

Managed to finish this soap and although a great performer, IMHO the scent doesn't rate as highly as more popular AP Reserve offerings but then again the aim this Sabbatical was to use up existing soaps and I'm up to half a dozen finished now with my eyes set on a few more tubs!!! Time to focus on some samples and variety as the same setup has been a bit stale...

Pre-shave: Hot Shower
Brush: TF Customs - Blurple 28mm timberwolf
Soap/Cream: Blue Devil Shave Co. - Vetiver
Razor: Karve CB - SS SB (F)
Blade: Gillette - Minora Stainless (30)
Post-shave: Fine - Fresh Vetiver AS / A&E skin food nourishing cream.

2 pass WTG daily shave = DFS+. Shave 30 completed on the Minora blade and what a great shave it was. I could have done a 1 pass plus touchups but then that would have been a waste of lather. The blade is still smooth and although there is a slight reduction in sharpness, there is still really good efficiency from the blade.

The blade flipping on every shave is notifiable, in regards to which side is more efficient being this shave with blade up the better performer. Not to say the other side of the blade is bad. Far from it, my last shave was BBS. Typically with an efficient razor like the Karve SB F plate, blades dont last particulary long, as they become dull, bite and force you to replace the blade. These Minora blades are terrific. They have performed exactly the same for me as the Gillette Stainless (red & white). I shall continue to use the blade in rotation until such time it fails. Well done @Razor Burn, and welcome to the 30+ shaves on a Gillette DE blade Club. :)

Pre: Hot shower
Brush: TF Customs Silvertip 30mm
Soap: Shaver Heaven, Fougere
Razor: Vintage Gillette, Ball End Old Type (estimated 1920's)
Blade: Vintage Gillette (5)
Post: Alum block, unknown sample of after balm
Fragrance: Stirling, Island Man (sample bottle)

My first time using an open comb razor.
Even though this old razor looks good as new, not likely this was it's first shave. If only they could talk hey!
Stung a bit with the alum afterwards, but no trauma.

Soap:- Noble Otter - Two Kings
Razor:- ABC Pocket Edition

Have been patiently awaiting this shave all week and it did not disappoint.
Surprised me such a small razor was capable of nice long strokes and really got into those hard to reach areas
I love the naked simplicity of the ABC and it's so pretty :) (y)

Pre: Hot Shower, Nivea Skin & Stubble
Brush: Omega Boar
Soap: Esslinger Aloe Vera
Razor: Pearl Flexi
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock Yellow (3)
Post: Nivea Skin & Stubble, Aloe Vera

Not a bad shave result, but I was reminded why I very quickly moved on from the Omega Boar and Esslinger soap. Smelt like wet animal and picked out shedded hairs with every stroke, and the slickness of the Esslinger left a lot to be desired. Back into the cupboard they go. Though the Omega proved useful in cleaning the sink. I don't think I'll have the patience to break it in.

This soap is definitely in my Desert Island selection. To look at that dainty little puck in its wooden tub, you'd be forgiven for assuming it would be awkward to lather, but it's a real bomb. I'll definitely be replacing this when it runs out.
