Can't remember the last time I used a King C but it felt a bit rough today. Maybe it'll smooth out on the next shave. On to the soap; when I first opened and smelt it, I thought it was like coffee candy similar to Kopiko, if anyone is familiar with it. Lathered up, sniffed every so often, and the initial sweetness decreased and the coffee scent came out a bit more. Not bad I thought, but maybe not worth the premium for what is a competent soap base on par with most good artisan soaps.

However, on first stroke with the Fine Marvel warmed up with hot water, the hit of coffee scent hit me. Not overly strong, but it was definitely there. At first I thought I was imagining things, but with every hot water rinse and subsequent stroke I kept getting that mild but lovely hit of sweet coffee. I reckon the heat retention of the Fine Marvel head helped here; the warmth helping to elevate the scent. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I traded two whole tubs of Noble Otter for this soap, and it was a worthy exchange. This stuff is just beautiful.
