Preshave: cold water
Brush: Shaver Shop badger
Soap: Shaver Heaven Extreme Arctic Mango
Straight: 5/8 Dovo Stainless Steel scales
Postshave: cold water & alam block

Best lather tonight since I returned to the fold. Shaver Heaven soaps always lather great but some times everything clicks. Love the Stainless scales. Gives a manly, tool, workshop appearance. Blade is loose in the scales however (flops around like an thunder-box door in a cyclone) and is hard to grip in my non-dominant hand. I gave myself two small nicks. Good shave though.

Pre-shave: Hot Shower
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson The Duke Shaving Brush
Soap/Cream: Phoenix & Beau Spitfire shaving soap
Razor: Blutt WR-1 razor
Blade: Feather (3)
Post-shave: Phoenix & Beau Spitfire splash
Fragrance: Phoenix & Beau Spitfire solid cologne

Absolutely superb shave.

Oof this particular Feather Pro even on second use was a little too rough/sharp even with a thick lather. Might get a cork or do some stropping on denim/leather belt on next use.
Schick Proline is very similar to the Polsilver SI/Wizamet SI to take the edge down a notch from the Feather Pro

Aussie Wednesday shave with SaltLake Soaps - “Un-Scented”, a Tallow based soap. SaltLake soaps are based in Boreen Point on Lake Cootharaba in the Noosa Hinterlands area of Queensland. My “scent-your-own-soap” scenting oil comes from Aussie Soap Supplies, “Rain Forest”described as: “Explore the tall, dense jungle and feel the freshness with this invigorating scent. A delicate intro of dewy rainfall is supported by aromatic notes of Argentina Lemon and peach with a hint of herbal aniseed making for a refreshing start to this complex yet perfectly balanced scent profile. Including hints of rose alongside slightly softer notes from jasmine and lily, deepens further into a woodier, more earthy base due to the presence of amber, vanilla and musk. A multilayered, earthy, lingering men's scent.”

Shave Result: SaltLake soap makes a reliable medium density creamy lather and gives excellent performance, a great economical soap that I rate a solid Tier 2 performer. I added 7 drops of scent oil to the lather build, scent was well blended to give a complex fresh green floral forest vibe that was quite pleasant, scent strength 6/10 The medium-mild Vikings Blade razor gave a lovely DFS, just one weeper and some stinging from Alum.

As a matter of interest, how do you rate a tier 1, 2 or n performer? Do you use formal criteria, or is it a subjective thing?

A deadset pearler of a shave. The ATT S1 slant has usurped my Merkur Futur as my go-to travel razor.

Very nice indeed. As a matter of interest, do you ever worry about consequences for your badgers when confined to wash bags? Or, for that matter, wear and tear from these excellent dog bowls?
