Henson Razor. Well I'm trying I decided to mix it up to the F@!#K and well I tried. Still cannot understand the part of the drag from the Henson. Looking at it precision engineering is without doubt evident in it. Does it shave of course it does. Oh well will perserveer at it

Pre-shave: Hot water, Pears soap
Brush: CaYuen "Watermelon" 28mm AP G5B
Soap: Czech & Speake - Oxford & Cambridge (Valobra)
Razor: Alpha Claymore Evolution, Windrose K2 SS handle
Blade: Schick Proline
Post-shave: Shower, homebrew moisturiser, La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50+, Oxford & Cambridge cologne
COTD: Mocha Matari, Yemen

First run with the new Claymore Evo this morning. It didn't explode in my hand, just delivered a really pleasant shave with just the right amount of blade feel. I totally concur with @Errol's verdict: Bloody Good.

This week I have been shaving with my first SR, a Titan ACRM-2 T.H.60 maintained on diamond pasted Balsa strops and dressed in Madagascan mahogany scales. Lather has been provided by Proraso green cream.

Yesterday I received a gift from a very kind gentleman in Bahrain of three Palmolive Classic shaving sticks (Germany).

My only previous experience with a Palmolive stick has been with an Australian made one from pre 2000. I still have about ¾of that stick left but only use it for special occasions, like, weddings, christenings and funerals.

This morning I decided to forego the Proraso cream and try my new Palmolive stick. Oh what a feeling!

The lather was not as "creamy" as Proraso and with just a tad less slickness. For some reason it just suited my SR shaving style so well. I can see these Palmolive Classic (Germany) sticks being favoured in my soap rotation. A DFS+ result as always.

The wind rose handle is a good match. I actually don’t mind the original handle. It’s a bit of brutalism and stands out on my shelf. My claymore arrived yesterday and will take it for a spin tonight.

Good enough to deThrone the Vector?

And it could be so easily fixed with a sharper angle on the cap.

No.

:p

Actually, I have to admit it might (OK, it does) shave as well as the Vector, but there's no way it can outdo the nimbleness of the Vector. I don't think there is any razor that does. Given that it doesn't feel like a toothpick in the hand, you might like it. It shares some similarities with the Hawk, but the profile is lower and more elegant, and works well with the Proline which leaves the Hawk a bit underpowered for my taste.

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: M&F Brad Sears L7 Tigris Finest Badger
Soap: Shaver Heaven Arctic Mango
Razor: Blackland Blackbird
Blade: Vintage NOS Gillette Platinum Swede (4)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel, APR Lavande violette Aftershave Lotion
Scent: Penhaligon's Elite EdT

A thoroughly refreshing shave to salve the current sweltering conditions here in the West.

Not quite sure whar you are saying here about the Hawk being underpowered with the Proline,
I have the standard SB plate on my Hawk V3, and I find my best shaves are with the Feather Pro Super. The Proline is my pick for the Vector (and I now have 12 years' supply of them) but I find it literally doesn't quite cut it in the Hawk. I should probably have gone for the "A" plate, having found the OC a bit too toothy for my cranium. As an aside, I don't know what Razorock were thinking there, the teeth on the RR-JAWS never gave me any grief at all.

Now I understand. For me the V3 Standard with the Proline is the perfect everyday AC razor. I find the V3 OC extremely aggressive. Shaving with it requires much more attebtion on my part.
And from what I understand about the V3 A, even though it has a larger gap, the A plate extends further out than the standard plate, thereby changing the angle. The end result being that it is not really any more efficient than the standard V3. And for you, would probably also require the Feather Pro super.

/ Oumo G5 Cove
/ Noble Otter The Noir Et Vanille
/ Executing Shaving Claymore Evo
/ Feather Professional (5)
/ The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA
/ Nivea Skin & Stubble

The G5 knot is very dense; giving it a strong backbone, and still feels pliable at the same time. This is my first 26mm knot brush, the rest all being 24mm, and it certainly feels it. It was a pleasure to use. And this handle ain't half bad looking either.

Much like @Gargravarr who was glued to his Vector for a long while, using the Claymore didn't feel as nimble as the Yaqi Raster V3 that I own. Not surprising since the Raster shares a similar design "ethos" with the Vector. As for performance, despite the Feather Pro approaching the end of satisfactory sharpness for me, the Claymore shaved very smoothly and efficiently, and I expect the efficiency to increase with a blade at peak sharpness. I feel like the Raster V3 is slightly more aggressive, which could be due to the Claymore having a thicker safety bar.

This further reinforced for me the high performance to price ratio that you get with the Raster V3.

I did have a small but noticeable scratch and ding at the back corner of my Claymore baseplate (does not affect the shave of course), but Brian at Executing Shaving UK graciously refunded me an appropriate amount for the trouble.

Fairly busy lately so I haven’t posted much recently. Thank God It’s Friday though.

I’ve been enjoying various shaving creams this month. I rarely use them usually. Picked up a few from “feeling sexy.com!!” recently, with there discount deal. This one (Apsley) is reminiscent of Acqua Di Parma, with a very similar scent. Nice prickly feel from the synthetic Stray Whisker brush. Possibly will be my last shave with the Hawk V3, on loan from @Gargravarr. I’ll be contemplating which Hawk to get, as it’s certainly been highly enjoyable.

Pre-shave: Hot towel
Brush: Billy Goat Brushworks/Maggard SHD 26mm 2 band
Soap: Stirling Ramblin’ Man
Razor: Dovo Solingen 5/8 (tidy up with Lupo 95/Nacet)
Post-shave: Alum block, Pinaud Special Reserve, Armaf ‘Club de Nuit’
My first attempt at setting a bevel, then refining the edge, on a straight. Spent a few hours setting the bevel with Suehiro 1K, then progressed through Suehiro 3K, Shapton 8K, Naniwa Super Stone 12K. Took me a while to convince myself that the bevel was set, but I'm very pleased with the result as the shave went really well and the blade felt sharp. Well, until I nicked myself on the chin so finished up with the Lupo.
