I have the standard SB plate on my Hawk V3, and I find my best shaves are with the Feather Pro Super. The Proline is my pick for the Vector (and I now have 12 years' supply of them) but I find it literally doesn't quite cut it in the Hawk. I should probably have gone for the "A" plate, having found the OC a bit too toothy for my cranium. As an aside, I don't know what Razorock were thinking there, the teeth on the RR-JAWS never gave me any grief at all.
Have to agree 100& as find the Prolines where decent with the SB plate but much preferred Pro Supers. Similarly prefer Pro Supers with the Stando Polska "Rod" as Prolines don't shave as close whereas a perfect match with the Vector... YMMV!

I'm looking forward to trying out a Super in the new Claymore Evo next time I swap blades. Maybe it'll be too much, but I have to know...

Feb. 26, 2022 - Paganini’s’ Violin

Brush: DG B13 Go Beyond
Razor: Tatara MasaDachi
Blade: Vikings Sword (3)
Lather: [Barrister and Mann - Paganini's Violin - Soap](https://trythatsoap.com/collection/2177/?product_type=soap)

Post Shave: [Barrister and Mann - Paganini's Violin - Balm](https://trythatsoap.com/collection/2177/?product_type=balm)
Fragrance: APR Junos EdP

Watching everyone posting their SOTD with the Omnibus PV had me itching to dig mine out. Great scent but I like the balm even more.

Been using the Masamune cap with Nodachi plate for the last week. Shaves have been excellent.

Capped off with a spray of APR Junos, just because, why not!!

/ Oumo G5 Cove
/ Blue Devil Peach & Pear
/ Executing Shaving Claymore Evo
/ Kai Captain Titan Mild (1)
/ The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA
/ Nivea Skin & Stubble

Again with the newbies. The Kai was pretty smooth off the bat, but not as sharp as the Feather felt on first use. I did feel it get a bit sharper halfway through the shave though.

Bowl lathered today, much more impressive result, great way to start the day -

Blackland ERA SB Level 4 / Personna Platinum
Restored Made Rite 24mm Oumo 2-band badger
SV Desert Vetiver Shaving Soap & Aftershave

After rwo shaves with the ERA. i’m realizing that the Level 4 plate is just not cutting it. Literally. So for the next ERA shave, I’m moving up to the Level 5 OC plate.

Nice to see that bowl 'naked' which confirms what I thought was the case in your earlier picture with lather!

Yesterday's shave went so nicely, I just decided to do it again. Day 4 with this blade, and it's shaving sharper and smoother than when it was new. Go figure... For some reason, this blade and/or razor seem to play particularly nicely with this soap.

This morning I finished my week's shaving with my first real SR, a Titan ACRM-2 T.H.60 in Madagascan mahogany scales and maintained on diamond pasted balsa strops. Lather for the week was provided by Proraso green cream (except one morning with a Palmolive stick (German)).

full

The first (Monday) shaved showed me that this blade's edge was not quite up to standard. After that shave and the subsequent two (Tuesday and Wednesday), the blade was put through a full pasted balsa strop progression. An improvement was noticed with each shave until Thursday's shave when no further improvement was noticeable.

The quality of shave this SR now gives me is up there with my best.

Starting tomorrow, I am going to have some free-shave time where I just choose whatever SR and soap that takes my fancy.

I've often wondered what this soap smells like. Old violins have a particularly distinctive scent, not really identifiable by the components of maple, spruce, animal glue, varnish and a bit of input from rosin.
You may have judged this book by its cover. The description is as follows “For Paganini's Violin, we have composed a fragrance built on multiple variations on a single note, all playing together into one unified, singular whole.”
The story goes something like he was playing a tune and one by one, the strings begun to break, but the talent he had meant he could still finish playing said tune.
This is basically the scent of clean skin after a shower with some fresh linen. There’s also a tea scent but I don’t get much of that.

Fair enough, my bad. Possibly just as well though, given my problematic record with B&M scents.

#SOTD – Sun 27 Feb 2022

Sunday shave with Barrister&Mann – NORDOST in the Omnibus base. Scent description: “Rich and elegant, with undertones of dusky sweetness, Nordost is the smell of smoked oranges, their peels made leathery by the heat, their juice darkened and concentrated and wonderful. This is no weak, muddled orange scent, handicapped by the fragility of the fruit’s natural oil, but instead an intense, distinctly authentic fragrance so deeply luscious that you’ll swear you’ve buried your face in a basket of the real thing.”

Shave Result: First time using the B&M Omnibus base, the soap texture is soft, despite looking firm on top. I used my normal generous half teaspoon soap scoop squashed in the bottom of my lathering bowl. Quickly generated a rich, dense, yogurty lather with a high sheen. Lather performance was top notch, first impression of this soap base is it’s as good as any of my other top tier soaps. To me the scent smells like oranges with a bit of caramel, I really enjoy this scent, scent strength is a robust 6/10. The Yaqi “Final Cut” matched well with the Wizamet blade to give a smooth DFS, there was a bit of blood from slicing through a bump on my lower neck.
