/ Yaqi Moka Express
/ Hub City Soap Company Doctrine
/ Robin Razor Snap
/ Gillette Minora (3)
/ The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA
/ Nivea Skin & Stubble

As a relative newcomer to wet shaving, I learnt that a lot of soaps/splashes are based on colognes I have never heard of. Doctrine is one such soap, based off Creed Aventus. Off the puck it was almost candy-like sweet, but upon lathering it opened up and smelt more like a cologne. With each pass and slight re-hydration different scent layers seemed to emerge. Overall an enjoyable scent and soap performance was excellent.

The half Minora has held up very well on its third shave (6th if you count DE years), providing a comfortable BBS. I flipped the blade to see if I can eke out one more full shave on the next one.

Pre-shave: Cold shower + my wife’s La Roche-Posay face wash.
Soap: SV Tundra Artica
Brush: Oumo 26mm Lotus Tip
Razor: Lupo 58 with Timeless Scratch & Dent handle.
Blade: Super Iridium (1)
Post-shave: Windrose Alum Crystal block, SV Desert Vetiver balm

It’s another warm humid day, 34C forecast again, so we’re off to our local swimming hole in the forest stream a short drive up the the mountain. it’s usually deserted on weekdays. The water is cold enough to freeze your bollocks. :wacky:

I used the new Razorock Lupo 58 blade just in case I get a touch of sunburn. It needs a shallow blade angle. DFS only, and a tingle with the alum block. I should have saved my money. A shame as the Lupo 72 is my favourite razor along with the Gamechanger 84.

The Oumo brush & SV soap are both outstanding while the La Roche-Posay face wash has a PH of 5.5, and leaves the face slick-feeling after washing. Better than pre-shaves I’ve tried IMO.

Comparing Timeless

Pre-shave:- Shower
Brush:- Troycraft Aluminium 24mm Bulb
Soap:- Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary
Razor:- Timeless 0.68 SS OC Scalloped Cap
Blade:- Wizamet (2)
Aftershave:- Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary

Comparing Timeless Ti to SS and different configurations. Today was first shave with 0.68 OC. A very efficient shave verging on slightly too aggressive. A wonderful smooth 2xWTG=BBS but felt tightness in the skin post shave and guarantee if I used this razor non-stop for a week would end up with razor burn. Maybe I need to include razors in changeover day and keep the 0.68 OC and Hawk 3 OC for dry season or special occasions because I love the super close shave and smoothness but can not use as a daily shaver

#AussieWednesday with SaltLake Soaps – Unscented. SaltLake is a Tallow based soap and comes in economical 180gm tubs. SaltLake soaps are based in Boreen Point on Lake Cootharaba in the Noosa Hinterlands area of Queensland. My “scent-your-own-soap”scenting oil is from Aussie Soap Supplies, YACHT CLUB scent described as: “Yacht Club fragrance features fresh citrus top notes of bergamot, tangerine and mandarin. The heart of the fragrance is comprised of pepper, sandalwood and floral notes of rose and lily. The fragrance has a woody, amber dry down with a patchouli character and a tree moss accord.” Inspired by "Essential for Men" by LaCoste.

🎥Shave VIDEO🎥

Shave Result: SaltLake made a lovely lather and performance was Excellent, another great economical soap that does the job, certainly a value soap worth trying. Added 8 drops of scent oil to the lather build, scent was a very pleasant citrus forward aroma with floral background, could not detect the woody notes, scent strength 5/10. The Cobbled DE felt just under medium aggression and had some blade feel, not sure the RK Chrome suites this razor though as I finished with some weepers and mild irritations, overall a good close shave.

I'll be honest I'm more of a balm/lotion post shaver but your home made splash although simple, is very refreshing and hydrating on the face/shaved head. (y)
Balm and lotion are for wimpy horse shit, you know my recipe works like magic throughout the WHOLE season, because, it’s cheap and simple without all that aftershave and balm ripoff bullshit.
