Shave Result: The BHS cream is over 2 years old and has dried out a bit and exhibits soft Steric soap crystallization, so I tried blooming the 3gm of product with 5ml of water first and the lather produced was creamy medium density. Lather performance is excellent, both primary and secondary slickness, as good as most creams I’ve tried if not better, I would say it’s better than TOBS. The scent is a generic citrus, powdery, barbershop aroma with strength 6/10. The Twig is my favourite SE razor and it gave me comfortable clean smooth DFS.

had a very rough shave a couple of days ago with this same setup but this shave was excellent, smooth and close. Only thing I did different is a pre-shave wash. Have been getting progressively slacker with my pre-shave routine to the point where sometimes I just splash some water on my face and face lather. Time to make a habit of it again.

As a matter of interest, what do you have to do to mod the GEM blade? Pull the spine off?

Yes, remove the spine and then clip the two back corners. Very easy to do. It only works on the earlier, A and B models.

Running short of time with an engagement, so this called for a rapid 2-pass shave with abbreviated prep.
Not quite as comfortable as normal, but still very close and entirely satisfactory.

Same setup for 3rd day running. Yesterday's hasty face/head lather with this brush was nice, so today's repeat was all the better for being able to take my time over it.

Funny, it went unused for a lot of the time while it still had a Tux knot, but I've been enjoying it much more since I put in that boar...

I like it!

It's a titanium brush handle from Boti. It's on the smaller side and hollow (but still with good weight) so a bit more affordable than usual sized titanium brush. Knot is a Yaqi Timberwolf.
