I suspect many of us have seen the MdC La Rochere bowl advertised for sale here (at a pretty reasonable price) but I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever seen one "in the wild" so to speak...

Prep: Country Life Tallow/Lanolin/Glycerin Soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Leonidam Horus Silvertip Badger
Cream: Musgo Real Oak Moss
Razor: Blutt BR-1
Blade: Vintage NOS Gillette Platinum Royal (6)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel, Jack Black Post Shave Cooling Gel
Scent: Musgo Real Oak Moss EdC

Running short of time with an engagement, so this called for a rapid 2-pass shave with abbreviated prep.
Not quite as comfortable as normal, but still very close and entirely satisfactory.
That's one nice looking brush! 💕

Summer down here is glorious, and winter is long and cold, so I'm happy to just take one day at a time. Fortunately, my comparatively small collection of soaps is equally good for all seasons...

Semogue 750 — Proraso Green — R41 — Gillette Super Stainless

The new brush is great, a bit bigger than I’d imagined but love the old Semogue styling. It’s much larger than my BC Texugo.

Now the R41 - thanks @Sticky … I went very carefully and respectfully and yet… blood. this razor doesn’t know the meaning of the word forgiveness does it. And yet there’s potential there. I’m going to rise to the challenge of getting a smooth shave or die trying (which may be a possibility too)
I used the vintage Gillette super stainless red and white pack blade the Sticky included seems to be good, I’ve only used green astra’s till now. Maybe if the razor is unforgiving the blade needs to be?

Just imagine what the pre-2013 R41 must have been like... Back when I had mine, I mostly used Astra Greens too, but if I were doing it again, I'd try a Minora: less blade exposure, but a much better edge.

I sometimes forget how much we're left on the outer in Australia. That's just over half what we pay (at today's exchange rate) but there's really only the one supplier here. I'm not suggesting vshod is gouging the market, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they get clobbered with costs we don't know about. Not least of which might be that of keeping stock of comparatively obscure products for what is after all a small market...
