fist shave in over a week I believe with practically a full beard present, what better than the JAWS for the job. Have to say the WTG pass was extremely smooth, possibly the best razor I have for getting through all that growth. Could of actually stopped after the first pass for a DFS shave but you know me, bbs or nuthin. Only ended with 3 passes on the face with two on the neck... killer shave and forgot how much I liked this razor.

My Omega boar knot fell out of the handle the other day (I had set it very lightly with silicone) so I took the opportunity to experiment with this Shoat knot that I ordered from Turn 'n Shave last December. Out of the box it looked rather forbiddingly prim and uptight, and the prickly ends led me to wonder if I'd been diddled when I ordered it fully-gelled. I left it out in the rain for a couple of days and let it relax, showing off a few split ends. And no stink! :woot: (y) First run with it today. I quickly abandoned the bowl, as this little piggy (of course) wasn't giving up any lather, but scrubbing on my face and dome fixed that. The knot is MUCH denser and finer than I've found in any other boar, and the tips of the bristles are showing signs of softening up nicely. A promising start; I have a good feeling about this piggy-wig. (y)

Jack Black shaving soap? ...... Link please @Holiday on this soap above this picture, thanks

I took the knot out of its cardboard box, put it on a tree stump and left it to be nurtured by our pure mountain rain. It blossomed like a flower. Something wrong with that?
No. Not at all. If it was just the knot, that makes perfect sense. Personally, I'd rather break in my boars by just using them.

I'm sure it wouldn't have hurt the handle, but I was just curious to see what (if anything) would happen. No illusions that that would break the knot in, but whatever they did at Turn 'n Shave to gel the tips has obviously got it nicely to started along the way.

I'll have to check out Turn 'n Shave for boars. I already have a synth from them.

I suspect even you might be impressed by their Shoat knot, it's quite different from most of the run-of-the-mill boars. This one is definitely going to be a keeper.

Incidentally, until recently, I had been unaware that "shoat" is a North American term for a young pig, especially one that has been newly weaned. One for the Scrabble players here... :D
