SYD Sydney Meetup - Saturday March 18th - 1.30pm - 3.30pm

Great meet-up today guys!

Private room was better than being in the general traffic flow last time!
Terrific to get to try all of @todras new scents before the launch tonight. They are crackers - well done Todras and @Sxot!
Amazing collection of Vintage Gillette razors from @Mark1966 - this incredible collection was worth the price of admission alone - thank you Mark for making the trip from Canberra.
Con @shavetheman also turned up so it was a very entertaining afternoon with the Sydney crew enjoying a pleasant afternoon at the Riverview, swapping, sniffing and chatting all things wet shaving and beyond.
Thanks @Monsta_AU for the vintage blades and other goodies. Welcome to @RustyBlade and welcome back to @the_shaving_sailor, @filobiblic ,@borked, @Rami and @SydBJW

I confess I purchased some vintage blades from Mark and @todras ' new soap/splash...so there goes the sabbatical :( Was fun while it lasted (actually it wasn't :ROFLMAO:)

Already looking forward to the next one...

well to be honest those blades are worth it.

and I must confess I was sitting here reading about the failed sabbatical thinking....

Another thoroughly enjoyable Sydney meetup with special guests @Mark1966 and surprise and very welcome guest @shavetheman making an appearance.

I had a great time catching up with everyone and meeting the new members of the forum. It was a great surprise finally meeting @shavetheman after talking to him on the telephone for such a long time now. To say he was impeccably dressed would not be doing the man justice, he carries himself with flawless appointment and a sense of grooming and effortless style.

I will let the pictures do most of the talking, the collection owned by @Mark1966 is nothing short of incredible.

We secured the upstairs room this time, and for the next meetup we will provision the Bistro area, it is outdoor but fully covered and will furnish the space we need as the Sydney meetup's grow in size. Part of the reason these meeting work so well is that members like @SydBJW have such an extensive, and always growing series of acquisitions. The extra room will more fully allow everyone to examine, smell and covert all the new kit.

My sincere appreciation for those that chose to show their support today, it means a lot guys :)

@borked came with his usual extensive collection of Bay Rums and soaps, the man loves to trade! Also pictured @Snooze's razors I believe ?

@Mark1966 required the use of an entire table his collection was so vast, I understand that present on the day was
only a very small part of it. To say the pieces are exceptional would be an understatement, I had the chance today to
look at and hold some very nice razors and kit and I am extremely grateful he could spare the time to drive up with this
collection of excellence.

@Snooze and I will post the date for the next Sydney meet-up in the coming days :)

@Snooze, I think you will find that the sabbatical is still on. As apr is officially exempt. Also meets are exempt in general.

Looks like everyone had a great time!

Why not sit in the smoking section though???

Don't be a bloody pork-chop :D

The law in NSW prohibits smoking indoors or outdoors within 4 metres of any area where food is consumed.

Local councils have additional provisions to ensure that any cafe's or licensed premises who have on-street dining permits (tables on the footpath) do not permit smoking at their outdoor tables. The state legislation exists concurrently also meaning that it is also an offence to smoke at one of these tables, or within 4 metres of a table.

You can find the relevant sections of proscribed designation in The Smoke Free Environment Act 2000 and the penalties for transgression in the regulations. The intent of the act is stated simply "The object of this Act is to promote public health by reducing exposure to tobacco and other smoke in certain public places."

The only place that is entirely exempt from the legislation is the 'Sydney Casino', which is also exempt from a number of other public health laws and matters of policing. Maybe there is something in the air at that venue that prevents the harms caused by the inhalation of tobacco smoke either directly, or second hand....that 'something' would be something out of my area of expertise however.

I can't thank @Snooze and @todras for their very generous gifts.

That gift was my way of saying thank you for your service to our country, it is appreciated and something I respect.

If you look closely at the label, you may find it personalised. This is not something that will likely ever occur again :)

Well done, Sydney folk (and Agent 66 from ACT) - looks like a brilliant afternoon! (y)(y)(y)

I think Ive already got my banner so too late

Not much escapes the all seeing eye of the Monsta it would appear!

Before I forget, my eternal thanks to you and @the_shaving_sailor. To you for the Mysore Sandalwood unobtanium and to TSS for the Jabonman Hatian Vetiver, both were a real surprise and very much appreciated :)

What did you buy anyway ?

to be honest I didn't want to give it to anyone else. I knew you would appreciate it the most

Too rough for me to travel out to Balmain on a public transport as I have cerebral palsy, I'm okay I have to accept my limitation that all I'm not a shame for who I am.

I understand completely, but if you wanted to come it's an issue we could attempt to navigate, including access to the venue and any other contingencies particular to your circumstances. You are part of the community here and it's only fitting that we attempt to mitigate any circumstances surrounding a fellow member that precludes their attendance at a meetup. Of course if you don't want to come because we are quite odd people that's totally understandable too :p

Have a think about it and let me know man, better still drop me an email if you would like to talk about it. If it is an issue of transport I will gladly come and pick you up, and drop you home afterwards :)

@todras .................well there is one more thing I don't talk about it very much and I really appreciate being part of the P&C community, and I'll be completely honest with you and all respectful P&C members on the forum is I'm also profoundly deaf.

I wear a bionic ear call a Cochlear Implant for information see http://www.cochlear.com/au to show you what I am wearing. With these I can hear speech sound up to 1000Hz at levels equivalent to normal speech, when I am in good listening conditions. I cannot hear low pitched speech sounds very well. This means that I need to be able to see the person at all times so that I can utilise lip reading information, I’m a very out spoken person and I have been lip reading over 38 years communicating to a lot of different people throughout my life.

Any amount of background noise will make it harder for me to understand what is said. All hearing impaired people find noise difficult to hear in, and often cannot cope when speaking with more than a couple of people unless they are in very quiet surroundings. For me to hear and understand what is said when there is some background noise requires a great deal of concentration on my hearing. This may be particularly so when I am dealing with new information. I may require so much effort to hear what is said, that I may not be able to concentrate on understanding the new information.

So I'm completely comfortable not showing up because I don't talk very much as I am very private and very personal, I'm happy with my life just between myself and the lodge ;) and I hope you all can understand that so you know who I am.

No hard feelings for not showing up at the Sydney meetup ;)

@SpeedyPC

2 things,

1. Please consider the offer to pick up and drop off as a standing offer. If not from @todras then from myself just give me a couple of days notice :)
2. No explanation required we are all good :)

You are most welcome @todras - you are very generous with your products towards the P&C community, so its the least I could do - so much nicer giving something when you know the receiver appreciates it :)
